Thing is I really think Klinsmann does feel that way. I think he gave Timmy C a shot vs Turkey just because he was still mixing and matching. Yesterday's game, as everyone from ESPN, those at home and those in Jax could see was as close to the lineup vs Ghana if not the exact lineup. Meh who knows, maybe Klinsmann might give him experience if something happens to FabJohnson or Beasley. By 2018 Yedlin might be playing at a nice club in Europe and might have a hold on the RB position. Who knows how these things go lol. 4 years ago Besler wouldn't have been on even the most ardent SKC fan's radar as a potential US starter in 2014 much less a member of the squad in general. Question I wonder is who gets the 1st call as substitute for Jozy if something happens to him or he gets tired. Wondolowski or Aron Johansson?
The only change I can see from yesterday's lineup is Zusi for Bedoya, but I wouldn't say even that change is likely.
I think it has to be Johansson. And I'm not getting too hyped up over a friendly, but you can't say Johnson and Bradley haven't been in good form and it was huge for Jozy to bag a couple goals. Doesn't mean I expect them to beat Ghana, but I think there is a good chance they can do it.
I think it is Iceman as well. The only forward not to score a goal in the send-off matches was Wondo. Another interesting aspect of taking Jozy out of the lineup is how it impacts the formation. He's the only one you can send out as a lone striker in a 4-2-3-1, and even then, he's always done better when paired with another striker. I don't think you'd want Johannson or Wondo playing alone in that role. Understatement, but they really need Jozy to stay healthy. One week away....
It's situational dependent. There will be games or times where Johansson would be more appropriate to put in (when you need the forward to have the ability to play face to goal and be able to take guys off the dribble) and there will be times when Wondo is the better option (just need someone at the right place at the right time).
Btw, who of ya brehs is from Italy or speaks Italian? Will study there from September til February and might need some help writing to people that offer apartments (learning the language atm, but I'm not good at all). Would send you the English version of my mail in a few days and would be incredibly grateful if somebody could translate it into Italian. Can't offer any money for your work, but I'd probably rep you weekly for the rest of your life.
Seems like with all these teams traveling cross-world to meet us, we'll have the upper hand in style and energy in Group G. Should be a walk in the park until we face a South American juggernaut in the brackets. Like our chances to win it this year.
They have a chance - they just need to get out of the group of death and see where they fall. It is not likely, but there is more of a chance than say, Panama or Sweden. DD
They might require as payment-you supporting Italy, wearing a Balotelli shirt and writing nothing but sweet nothings about the Azzuri for the next month lol.
Guillermo Ochoa to start for Mexico in goal! How do our fellow Mexican friends feel about this? I've long thought Ochoa is the best Mexican keep. No idea how Talavera or Corona were ever considered before him. Hopefully he doesn't mess up though, or else he'll be scarred for life!
Lots of things must happen for the USMNT to go deep in this tournament. I highly doubt Germany will not win this group so that leaves Portugal, Ghana and US fighting for second place. Ghana is definitely not the team from 2010 so there's hope there. There are also lots of questions in regards to CR7's health so obviously a huge plus. Add the logistics of traveling and scheduling that the other teams will face and maybe the US gets second place. Hypothetical speaking this would be the road to lifting the cup (at least IMHO). 2nd place in group>>Belgium>> Argentina>> Spain>> Brazil. C'mon guys, I want the USMNT to do well as much as the next guy but this will not be an easy task. Even after getting out of the group it would still be extremely difficult. Of course, the US has higher chances than the likes of Honduras, Costa Rica, Iran, Australia, Algeria, etc. but no one is mentioning those teams as potential contenders.
Can anyone tell me what this card is worth. Bought it a long time ago for $9. Wasn't even sure if it was the real Ronaldo or not because I did not know his first name was Luiz or that he played for FC internationale. But seemed to check out. Anyway, Ronaldo seemed to fall out of favor with fans for some reason, although I would have figured him to be considered with the liked Maradonna and Pele. Didn't seem to work out that way. Card is not numbered as in 2000 they weren't really doing that. authentication on the back of card. Anyway, what is this worth? I can't seem to find price on ebay.
