This is a different situation that Utah last year.

Last year Utah paid 24 mils to get some draft picks and also enable them to reach the salary floor.

This year you are asking someone whose also going to tank, but need to pay 30 mils while only gain 16 mils towards the salary floor.

14 mils is a lot to ask when you are going to suck for nothing.

I wish they'd just go away already. Perhaps to some obscure island. Like Fantasy Island.

Jumpballs involving Harden vs. Melo will be frequent.

When I scanned the Boston boards to see info on Love, they're actually quite amazingly interested in Asik. I think most are proposing using the TE plus one for their 1st rounders to get Asik. And given their deep pockets as an organization, I'm not sure the Rockets even have to throw in money.

Jeremy Lin though, is just a matter of piling enough picks until someone says yes. Last resort, you know Utah or Philly will say yes.

This team will never be serious contenders if they keep shuffling their lineups every year. The top teams in this league have one thing in common and that's consistency. All this team needs is just time to play together and gel. Morey's gm style is similar to a teenage girl shopping at the mall running up daddy's credit card buying up every shiny thing she sees in the store windows.

Not sure why people think this when it's never been true. Just look at the past championships.

Miami - cut everyone to sign Lebron and Bosh
Dallas - constantly traded players, added Kidd and Chandler to complete their core
Lakers - Added Pau Gasol to Bynum/Kobe core. Added Ron Artest following their championship run.
Boston - traded half their roster for KG and Allen
Detroit - Added Rasheed Wallace in mid-season trade
Spurs - every year sign mid-season veterans cut from other teams to the point where it has become a running joke

HOUSTON ROCKET - Traded Otis Thorpe for Tracy Murry and some other guy whose name escapes me following their first championship.

Agreed. Should have just kept the Lowry/Martin/Scola core together.

Here's the difference. Asik is one of the top 10 centers in the NBA. He's not trash. Therefore his $15 million isn't included.

That leaves you with Jeremy Lin...who is also not trash...but if you assume he is that's only 60% of the salary that Utah took on. Therefore 60% of the assets. #25 and a future pick at most. And possibly a market for Lin that gets him gone for less than that.

    Watch it happen.

Do the Boston boards have more influence on Danny than we on DM the GM?

Presumably you mean the Lin fans. And the reason you want us to go away is that we keep telling the truth. At some level deep, deep down, you know the Lin's-a-scrub story is smoke and mirrors, propagated by media fakery. And nothing hurts a faker more than a swift kick in the butt by the truth.

Now all you need is a coach that's good and will be respected by the whole team. Sadly, McHale ain't it.

Why is everyone so incredulous about Morey being able to trade Asik and Lin? If Morey doesn't care about ROI then anything is possible.

he's not a scrub, but a) he isn't a good fit on the rockets (most important) and b) he is vastly overpaid for the production he provides. At $8.4M/yr (salary cap hit) he should be putting up very solid starter numbers, especially since he plays nearly 30 mins/game

If the game is on the line and Jeremy Lin or Asik has to take the game winner,
then it's not like we're trading super clutch heroes like Horry and Cassell

It is the ROI that is the whole point.

Ainge is the one who put it in these fans heads that defensive centers like Asik are worth a lot.

Sorry, all four could play. And Big Shot Robert didn't show up 'til late in the day. He found a niche and did it well, but even with his passel of rings he was just a spot player.

    Sammy was clutch.

Lin and Asik are two bona fide NBA rotation players deserving of some respect, even here.

I agree with you in regards to the teams at the top. However let us not forget how they got there. It was a process that was done in a similar fashion. San Antonio has constantly added new pieces to Parker, Ginobili and Duncan. I believe Matt Bonner has been on the Spurs the longest after those 3. Once this 3rd superstar is added and Parsons is resigned, those 4 guys will be with the Rockets for the next 8-10 years with players receiving new contracts and ROLE PLAYERS being interchangeable, as they should be.
