Thread is now 27 pages long.

I think we can assume that every single place that's ever existed in the city of Houston but no longer exists has already been mentioned.

    Nope.

Jasper's Hamburgers, Wilcrest/Westheimer. Don't remember the burgers, but we used to shoot pool and drink beer there in HS.

    I'm glad someone mentioned:

    DIRTY'S

Their Chicken Fried Steak was to die for.

Also, glad to see at least one mention of

SRO Sports Bar on FM 1960 @ Cutten.

I watched almost every single important Houston sporting event from 1991-2008 there. Also, they had bar none THE best Nacho's I ever had. Also great lunch specials. God I missed that place when it shut down...

    Some others:

How bout LIPSTICK Gentlemens Club?(the precursor to Michaels International)

    Ah, the memories of youth......

    Anybody remember MEDIA PLAY?

I actually worked at one of them as the Operations Manager...best/most fun job I ever had. Too bad it only lasted a little over a year.....

That one comic book shop where the fat comicstore guy would accuse me of creasing rare Punisher editions.

I think I mentioned it in this thread. The one off Memorial City Mall turned into something else after. Something similar. Another Planet? Then there was a guitar/music store chain that died off slowly too.

    Phoenix, right?

Saving my carcosa funds for Costa Rica. Jaco, Carcosa Island.

I was the 2nd employee hired for that store (after the General Manager). I supervised the building of it...and worked there every day right to the very last day (even after it closed) before they laid me off.

Wow. Amazing thread. I lived in Houston in the 90's and I think just about every place I remember has been on this list. Even stranger when places that were new/"after my time" are now also making this list. The list of places that are still there would probably be shorter.
