they only used half the Alamodome and put the biggest black curtain up right down the middle of the thing. it seemed impossible to sell out and always looked empty

I once watched Van Halen play in the AT&T Center in "San Antonio" - turns out that place is located in the middle of nowhere. Off a small highway next to a bunch of ag barns where cattle is raised. I think the Bexar county fairgrounds too. Abject dump.

The Alamodome was awesome, it was big and the atmosphere was crazy!! Don't let your Rockets fandom fool you: the Summit, though a nice building, was nothing special mainly because our fans didn't show up. I've watched plenty of games to hear it for myself and even opponents commentators talk about it, even when it's not even in Houston. We are known for having 'lazy' crowds, it was like that during the summit days and it's like that today.

I don't think people thought the Alamdome was awesome.

"As the years passed, Spurs management and fans grew increasingly dissatisfied with its poor sight lines and cavernous feel. Part of the problem was the manner in which the Alamodome was configured for basketball. The basketball court was at one end of the venue with temporary stands on one side of the court, leaving over half of the stadium curtained off."

the only thing good about the alamodome was the location. if you get cheap seats , the players look like ants.

The Summit hands down. That place would get rocking. I remember many a Rockets game there, and also lots of great concerts.

This thread reeks of loser's mentality. The NBA Finals is under way, and we’re in here discussing who has the better arena. Maybe next we can compare locker rooms or video monitors. We can't lose as long as the Spurs don’t bring up their trophy case.

You can say the same thing about the AT&T Center.

You can go to the spurs arena if you hate air conditioning , good food and safe neighborhoods
Nothing will stop you except the gang members on the street

Have you actually gone to a spurs game ?

Have you ever been to San Antonio?

If you answer yes for both questions then you'd understand

You realize when Barkley was clowning San Antonio , shaq was laughing big time

Shaq is from San Antonio so he knows Barkley is right when he says the river walk is a dirty creek

The Alamodome sucks for a football game I can't imagine how bad it would be to watch a basketball game in that dump.

who cares about the arena.. the product on the court is what matters most..

taking my biased homer goggles off.. you have to admit the Spurs > Rockets

Captain obvious. The spurs are better has nothing to do with their stadium sucking.

Put your glasses on and try to understand that
