GRRM said he was told that this battle would be eclipse the Battle of the Blackwater and I think it lived up to that. The dead bodies come back to life (and become Wights) because of the White Walkers. So it's only when the White Walkers get a hold of them. That's why Jon told Sam to have the bodies in the tunnel burned, so that there's no chance of them coming back later.
Quick question for you guys... Do you think Ygritte would've shot Jon, had the kid not gotten her first?
I wonder if the lack of posts regarding this episode is more due to the fact that not much happened in the episode, or because people have just thrown in the towel and had enough of idiots who love to ruin the show and spoil things.
The whole episode was an extended battle scene. I guess there just isn't a whole lot to discuss. The King's Landing storyline is the most interesting part of the show, and unfortunately we didn't get it this week.
no the ones who complain non stop about spoilers and all the rules are the ones who ruin it for me, personally.

I've been lurking in this thread the entire season, and this is what gets me to bite. watching you navigate and moderate the rules of tv show thread spoilering is just plain exhausting. of your 15+ posts in this thread, I can't count more than 5 that are actually plot related and not you complaining. now where the hell is the army of white walkers from a few seasons back?

One of this show's few shortcomings has been it's less than stellar portrayal of large scale battles. Not this episode, it completely delivered. Could have been a large budget theatrical movie.
I was just wondering how did the direwolf know who to attack and who to defend. I knew somebody was going to die (oh guess what, because somebody who read the books posted that in this thread ) and guessed Ygritte, but it was still sad to see her go. It was refreshing to see Ser Alliser Thorne being an effective battle commander and pretty much making up with Jon on the wall, and also to see Slynt being proved a coward. Still don't care much for Sam or Gilly, but at least the last guy in charge of the wall is still alive, and the spike thing was awesome to watch. Seriously after seeing that, Mance Rayder would have to be an idiot to try and climb the wall again.

The wolf probably knows who is and isn't a member of the nights watch, especially by what they were wearing. Would have been cool if it had more screen time, and gone with Jon Snow.
