With major moves coming VERY soon, all the talk around here is Melo, Love, or even LBJ/Durant....a third superstar.
But, in lieu of all that, what do you all think about fitting Kyle and the Ostrich into that capspace. We all know Daryl has been desirous of the Spaniard for quite awhile, even making an attempted move that fortunately was squashed. Now, Gasol's contract would be reasonable and a more mature Lowry could come back, smoke the peacepipe with Lurch and play for some titles.

    Kyle
    Harden
    Parsons
    Ostrich
    Howard

    Thoughts?

I think that would be plan C, Dmorey is going after Klove then Melo. And as contingency plan Klow and Pau.

Neither player is going to happen unless we can get a third superstar first. And then it is highly doubtful that we are going to pay Lowry long-term money.

KYLE LOWRY is one of my favorite players in the league and has been since before we traded Rafer Alston for him. I've liked the guy since him and Randy Foye played together in a very gutsy, balls-to-the-wall backcourt at Villanova.

But.....Kyle Lowry is going to get paid and overpaid at this point in his career. Because of his style of play and his body type and now his age (28) it is simply not the right time to give Lowry a long-term deal for 4/40 or whatever. He is a high-high risk to break down and suffer a severe injury as he heads into his 30's and he puts on even more weight.

Perhaps if Lowry could be had for around $5 million per season for 3 years or so he might be decent value. But 4 years at $35-$40+ million.....not a good deal. Too much risk and he isn't a superstar.

plan A: melo or love (assuming lebron isn't an option)

plan B: pair one of lowry/thomas with one of gasol/hawes/trade for milsapp

plan C: keep asik, trade lin for cap space and build a top notch bench by choosing 3 or 4 of n.young, mcroberts, n.robinson, stuckey, kirilenko, blatche, frye, humphries, meeks, sessions, marvin williams, p.mills, hinrich, j.hill, jordan crawford, cj.miles, ppatt, kaman, sefalosha, a.brooks, augustine, w.johnson.

Plan A: Lebron (make no mistake about it)

    Plan B: Love

    Plan C: Bosh

    Plan D: Melo

    Plan E: Dirk

Plan F: Trade #25 and Terrence _ones for future first rounder(s) and Brendan Haywood. Hold Asik and Lin for the trade deadline. Trade Asik if possible for a larger expiring deal(s) and at least one future first round pick pigeon-holed in the #10-#15 range (similar to Lowry draft pick).

I agree that, getting either player alone, would be a dumb thing to do unless we got a third star first.

I feel though, if we able to get BOTH, and keep Parsons, that it would be a very solid upgrade to the team. Arguably just as solid, or more of an upgrade then bringing in a third star at the expense of Parsons. Nevertheless, not a bad backup plan IMO to get both Lowry and Gasol, whil retaining Parsons. I would be happy with that roster, I personally think it would make a serious run for a title, with a upgraded coaching staff.

It would be an upgrade. But it would be settling. By taking us out of the opportunity to get our 3rd superstar. We're locked in with a really good team but they won't be good enough to win a championship.

I think we could give a good 2 to 3 serious championship runs with that squad.

Lowry, Gasol and Howard are all excellent defenders, defense would be much improved.

Howard, Gasol and Parsons is a huge front court. It would be our own replica of the Lakers Bynum, Gasol, Odom trio!

Gasol is a low post threat, that fixes a huge problem for us, he also has a good mid range jumper so he can stretch the floor for Howard.

Lowry brings toughness, defense, a 3pt shot and excellent ball handling and passing at the point, all quality's much needed!

Each player in the starting five is capable of putting up 15 to 20 points a night easy, offense would be amazing.

You throw in some vets, draft picks, next years MLE's and you have a very serious contender IMO.

You may be right. But I don't think we'll ever find out.

The Rockets started 3 excellent defenders in Dwight, Pat and Omer for the majority of the playoff games and the defense still struggled.

The defense will never be good enough unless Harden improves his D substantially or is shipped out.

You can't just try to bring in defensive guys to cover for a your star if your star plays dog **** defense like Harden.

Also, Pau isn't that good a defender at his age. Ask LA fans.

Harden is not the key to this team playing better defense. The design of the defense and having smart basketball players at the other 3 spots outside of Harden and Howard is the key to this team having great defense along with having an offense that REQUIRES the opponent to change and modify their rotations to match up properly with us.

Bev may be a pesky on ball defender (and may get in opponents heads), but i don't think he's as talented of a overall defender as Lowry is. A Lowry/Beverley combo would be amazing too.

Gasol is a smart 7 footer, he knows the correct positions to be, how to defend in the post and is still agile enough to keep up with most 4's, as long as he has those simple traits he will be a good defender.

And Hardens defense, well theres not much i can say about that except that i hope he gets his **** together. A 3rd star won't fix his defense either, the point i was arguing is that a Pau and Lowry combo would be as good as a 3rd star.

Thing thats interesting is that if that trade didn't get vetoed Gasol would of been on this team.

I'm guessing you haven't watched Gasol much lately.

I don't know what Morey is thinking, but I have 0 interest in Gasol. He is getting older, his defense has declined a lot and the frontcourt of him and Howard was already tried once in LA and failed.

    No thanks.
