I don't know but that was bad. To go from what he was to squashed pile of blood, meat and bone. I hope the opening scene is something completely different. I guess we will see.

Yeah, my GF was screaming at the tv for him to end the mountain. Always go for the double tap.

    But.....yeah. That was rough.

And you could clearly see his missing teeth when the Mountain rolled him over, just before crushing his skull. Damn.

It's interesting that everyone makes note of how extreme this scene was with him squishing Viper, but no one really made a thing out of Snow running that guy through the back of his head and out his mouth. I guess due to a combination of universally recognized bad guy getting his vs. someone most people liked, and the fact that the mountain did it with his 'bare' hands.

I think the screaming put it over the top for most people. Sword through the back of the head is viewed as a "clean" quick kill.

    Still, both were gruesome.

Once the teeth went flying, I knew it was over for him but damn it just got worse from there and that scream was just horrid. Typically, I rewatch episodes the next day but I just couldn't bring myself to watch this one again.

Don't know what it is about how it's all done but I've watched some sick horror movies that have never stuck with me.

So a question for fellow watchers...

Does a majority of people believe Tyrion won't die? I've read a few places and that's the idea I've picked up on, and I have the same feeling. I just find it hard to believe that they could actually go through with killing him off, even knowing the show. We'll know his fate soon enough.

So, assuming he stays alive, how does he do it, in your opinion? My thought is Tommen just gives him a pardon out of left field. I remember them talking and him giggling at some point earlier in the show, giving me the impression that he's fond of his uncle and wouldn't let him die. Just a total guess though.

    What say you?

I don't think Tommen will do anything in his own accord. At this point, he just seems like a puppet to the Lannisters. My guess is he escapes with the help of Jaime or maybe Littlefinger. I don't think Littlefinger's complete plan included framing Tyrion. How would he have known that Joffrey was going to do all the dick moves that led to Tyrion serving Joffrey the wine?

I predict that Littlefinger finds value in Tyrion being alive and has a hand in saving him somehow.

I think Littlefinger is in such a physically isolated place that he really isn't in position to do anything about events in King's Landing. Best case, he's communicating back and forth by raven, and won't find out about events until well after they happen, and I'm not sure that, being somewhere that isn't "his" place, he even has that.

They spent so much time in the lead up to the trial hammering home that Jamie is the one Lancaster that cares about Tyrion, that if Tyrion lives, I think he'll be involved. Alternately, if he dies, it will be a major turning point in Jamie's psyche, like losing his hand was.

I think that Margery (sp) will have an influence on Tommin and he will somehow pardon the imp or send him to the wall . She is one of the few that know he is innocent and I think that's his only hope . Killing him would definitely be a big blow to the show ,just don't see it happening .

Ah, I forgot all about the Tyrell's. Were they in attendance for the duel? I think I remember Margaery's father sitting near Tywin, but not sure.

    Quick history lesson:

In England in the 1400's, the House of York (whose symbol was a white rose, sort of like House Tyrell) went to war with the sitting royal family House Lancaster (sounds a whole lot like House Lannister) over who was going to be King of England (War of the Roses). Eventually, they killed each other off and House Tudor (cadet branch of thd Lancasters like the Lannisters of Lannisport to the Lannisters of Casterly Rock) became the royal family.

That seems like too much to be a coincidence, especially how much Martin has already borrowed from real history (unless, of course, it is just a very intentional red herring). I fully expect House Tyrell and House Lannister to go at it at some point.

The way that the relationship between Tyrion and Jaime has seemingly been building in their dungeon visits, I would expect that Jaime would do the saving. I really can't even see where he would go if he escaped, though. Wouldn't really be tough to pick out of a crowd, would he? There's always some twist with this series, though!

I would just like to point out to those who think book readers have no place here that there are five books. Many book readers haven't read all 5. In my case, I've read through to the end of
    "A Storm of Swords".

I have done my utmost not to post too much in here...even to avoid commenting on how far along the show has proceeded compared to the book.

Folks like myself CAN'T go into the other thread cause we would be spoiled ourselves....so please remember that when stating things like the following...

My personal interpretation of the houses is that York is more like Stark. I think there are more similarities there especially with Sansa in particular (Elizabeth of York)
