James Farris, a RHP from the University of Arizona who was drafted in the 15th round by the Astros, was picked by the Cubs in this round.

 

Radziewski tore the labrum in his pitching shoulder during his sophomore year at Miami.

 

Great K's despite the low velocity. Shoulder injuries are always are big red flag.

 

Starting to think that Aitkin is gonna sign for pretty close to slot with all of these college picks today.

 

They went college heavy last year as well.

 

Round 10, Pick 286: Jay Gause, RHP, Faulkner

Faulkner is an NAIA school in Alabama.

 

Gause is 6'5", 250. Mid-90s fastball. Looks like a defensive end. Was an NC State recruit. Originally drafted by the Indians in the 25th round in 2010($$), and had shoulder surgery at some point in his life. ($$)



Hometown: Shallotte, North Carolina.

2014: 14 appearences (7 starts, 2 complete games, 1 shutout), 4-3, 2.17 ERA, 58 IP, 28 H, 17 R (14 earned), 24 BB, 83 K, 0.90 WHIP, .139 opponent average

 

Apparently Gause also had shoulder surgery.

 

Is there another stat for HBP than hit by pitch? He has 14 HBPs in 14 games which seems pretty high for hit by pitch.

 

I'm pretty sure he hit 14 guys.

I'm pretty sure we got ourselves an "enforcer" for the pen then!

With the final pick of Day 2, the Cardinals select Danny Diekroeger, a 2B from Stanford.

Day 3 will take place at noon tomorrow. I will be at my brother's HS graduation tomorrow, which starts at the same time.

 

Nothing in this draft screams McCullers or Ruiz to me. Am I mistaken or were our picks after #1.1 kind of safe overall. Ruiz and McCullers seemed like absolute steals to me, a person with not a lot of insight on these college or high school players.

 

Nix is the closest thing. But I think Aiken might end up costing $6.5MM+, we were very conservative (slot wise) with our picks.

 

I really like our top 3 guys. There are plenty of good prospects remaining.

BTW, do not image google Bobby Boyd.

 

I agree with first two sentences and will accept the advice of the third sentence.

 

I'm pretty intrigued by Gause. He's probably the biggest wild-card from the first 10 in terms of potential because there's virtually no information on him.
