I was thinking the same thing. Hard to imagine that it would work though. It's worth a try. Also, shows that just aired should not have to be "spoilered". That's kind of the point of the threads. If you come to read a thread without having caught up or seen the most recent episode, and expect nothing to be spoiled, you're just an idiot.
The thread titles begin the exact same way and the full title is often clipped on a cell. This happened before I even realized a spoilered version existed. It happens.
It will be tough to keep the trolls out but I think there is merit in having three threads: 1) Show-only watchers thread 2) Thread for everyone where the show watchers can ask book readers semi-spoiler ish questions and the book readers can fill their curiosity of how non-book readers view the story. Basically this thread. 3) Super spoiler/book readers only thread
Naming the other thread "Season Four" before "Spoiler version" is irritating because you can't see "Spoilered" on the end in the "Last Post" column. Why even name the spoiler thread "Season Four" really? In any case "Spoilered" would have been nice BEFORE season four so others don't make the same mistake Ziggy did. Making a new non spoiler thread won't help no matter what you name it. Some people just can't help themselves. And those acting like people are getting upset about nothing have to be book readers, because if you weren't, it would matter to you enough not to blur the line between what is and isn't an objectionable offense.
Like I said, I'd put the chances of it working very low, but, why not give it a try. I'd emphasize that no matter how reputable and respected the poster is, if they've read the books, please stay out of the thread/refrain from posting in it.
What about book readers with a bad memory like me? I ain't spoiling nothing. Watching the show is like new to me... occasionally I have an oh yeah this is what's gonna happen moment right before it does...
Heh, same goes for me. Some things I remember well, some things I almost completely forget. I sort of freaked out a bit once I realized that I was watching the scene where Lysa Arryn was going to get tossed out of the moon door. I remembered that it happened, but I'd forgotten some of the details leading up to it. It's been years since I've read the books.
I accidentally clicked on the spoiler thread once too but it was a page with book readers crying about show watchers crying about them "spoiling" things so I was lucky not to read anything crazy while I was in there.
Its hard to tell the difference if clicking on it from the main forum page -- the "*** spoiler version" portion of the title is cut off.
It won't work. The book readers who keep posting in here know it isn't wanted. They aren't going to stop no matter what you title the thread. This exact issue is happening with this show on other forums and the only way it gets controlled is if a board moderator starts banning people for spoiling things. I don't expect (nor am I suggesting) that to happen, so we will just have to deal with the spoilers and hope it doesn't ruin anything.
I just re-watched the Viper and the Mountain fight. It still has the same damn effect on me. It looks like the Viper has it won and there is absolutely no reason for him to loose. Am sitting there screaming at the damn tube for him to just finish of the Mountain and then... That is with out a doubt one of the hardest scenes in the series to watch but definitely one of those scenes you just will not forget.
