What is Fisher gonna get called up and only hit triples in Houston?

That's almost as bad as drafting a guy named John Stockton.

Excited for the power of AJ Reed. Huge kid, potential DH/1B?

AJ Reed is another pick that has more walks than strikeouts. Been something this FO has really gone after.

Led the nation in HRs, guess the Astros need to replenish the power down on the farm with Springer, Singleton, and maybe Santana up soon.

    AstrosCounty reports:

Reed led the NCAA in homers (23), SLG (.735), and OPS (1.211), while also leading the SEC in wins as a pitcher (12), RBI (73), OBP (.476), walks (49), and total bases (164).

This is the 2nd straight year that the Astros have drafted the SEC Player of the Year.

Would that really be the best case scenario? I'm not exactly thrilled at the prospect of having Derek Fisher dominating the Astros broadcast/news/threads.

The Royals just drafted a pitcher named Scott Blewett. But yeah, Derek Fisher is worse.;)

Reed walks less, strikes out the same amount, and has is a whole grade and a half lower on power than Bryant. Bryant was also much more athletic. Let's hope Reed is much more than just a college bat.

The reasons you stated are why Bryant was taken 30+ spots ahead of Reed. Of course he is not as good of a prospect. He is a good draft pick though regardless.

Couldn't ask for a better first three rounds. Think Aiken might be a little more expensive then we had hoped though because Fisher and Reed could both get full slot.

With the final pick of Day 1, the Mariners select Gareth Morgan, an OF from Blyth Academy in Toronto.

The Astros kick off Day 2 with the 75th pick in Round 3 tomorrow at noon.

And Chris Burke was SEC POY too when we drafted him in 2001.
