Yeah. I think that will forever be etched in our memories. But really, he brings defense and hustle....kind of a Beverley at SF. He's an ok shooter from the left corner, and he runs the court on fast breaks. Seems like a good fit, but we would need to find someone to replace Parsons' ball handling skills (cough, Llull, cough).
While I do believe the Rockets may trade Parsons in the offseason, no way he goes to Minnesota. S&T to the Knicks and get to play in NY and MSG? I think Parsons and Fegan would accept that. But Playing in Minnesota for one of the crappiest franchises? No chance. Plenty of 2nd tier teams will be willing to offer Parsons good money and not be as bad as Minnesota. I see two possibilities. One is that Parsons get S&T for a lottery pick, but I skeptical how high a pick it may fetch. The other is that making Parsons a RFA has more to do with Melo than Love, given Fegan's penchance for liking NY/LA and Parsons for liking to be in the spotlight.
And just how do you propose that we sign-and-trade Parson to the Knicks since they are well above the projected apron of $81 million? Do you understand that for the Knicks to take a player in a sign and trade they are going to have to ditch around $10 million in salary just to get under the apron? And even then it's durn near impossible. It's probably actually impossible. I'm just not going to take the time to prove that it is. So....you understand Parsons isn't going to go to Minnesota in a sign-and-trade because he don't want to. And now you understand that it is basically impossible to sign-and-trade him to the Knicks even if he wanted to go because it's virtually impossible to put together the trade and get the Knicks under the apron unless Parson signs for pittance. Is anybody getting the picture yet? Guys, we are not trading Parsons.
I tend to agree....more just reconciling the comment from NBCSports. We do not have better assets than Boston if we don't include Parsons. And any trade we make is likely to be a 3 way trade. Parsons doesn't have to go to Minnesota. I could see the Lakers, Boston, or Phoenix as possible options.
Now...what trade can we get LAL, Boston, or PHX to make for Parsons? Name the team and the trade and tell me whether it is with Parsons' option exercised for one-year or whether it is Parsons signed-and-traded.
The Knicks are already planning to trade Chandler should they trade Melo because Chandler is complaining and the Knicks will be rebuilding anyway.
All restricted free agency PHX - Len and picks. I don't buy Pekovic as a championship center. Boston - Green and picks Lakers - their 2014 pick and taking back Martin
You're kidding. You think PHX is going to cough up Len who is a skilled young 7-footer lottery pick and throw in other picks for ..... Parsons???? That won't happen. Seriously? They're trying to trade for Love themselves. They're not the least bit interested in helping us acquire him and giving up assets for Parsons. They're going to trade their 2014 pick for a signed Parsons and Kevin Martin signed to a long-term deal and basically clog their cap with mediocrity and not have the ability to add 2 max contracts to Kobe? None of those trades has a snowball's chance in hades of happening. I'm sorry. But those GMs just aren't that gullible.
PHX - Plumlee Boston - If we have the "better assets", don't you think Boston would be interested in getting something of value? Lakers - agree it was a stretch. The lakers don't have much of value other than this years pick. Each of these teams need a SF. It's not a stretch. As I've already said, I agree it's unlikely he gets traded. But the 3rd star is the priority.....not Parsons. If the FO begins to think Parsons is keeping us from that player, he's gone.
Okay. PHX would probably do that. But is Plumlee a piece that helps make a deal go down? And do you think you can get Parsons to agree to go to PHX? No. And probably no. Sure. They'd take Asik off our hands for nothing and possibly a future draft pick. But why would we give away Parsons to them? Exactly, and that pick is worth more in trade than Parsons. They'll keep the pick and play at a later date. Or they'll trade the pick for a superstar that is walking away from their team. Each of these teams need a SF. It's not a stretch. We're not trading Parsons. Because we simply don't need to do it to acquire a 3rd superstar. And we need Parsons playing SF more than other teams need him. He's worth more to us on the floor than he is worth to other teams in a trade. Parsons and Melo (signed to a long-term deal) is better than Love on a one-year deal and possibly walking and leaving us with neither Love nor Parsons. Parsons and Melo (both operating on 1-year deals) is better than Love on a one-year deal because at the very least we will be able to offer Parsons more money than any other team if Melo decides to walk.
Brewer is also a very good ball handler. Perhaps not quite Parsons' level but that is a good thing IMO. Ball should not get sticky as much.
Unless Saunders is part of the their mob, then not sure what kind of deal involving Love can be done.
Ric Bucher: Where does Kevin Love end up? Toss up between Chicago and Golden State. From what I know, he wants to be on a playoff team next year. I would have to think, although not told directly, after his time in Minnesota, he'd like to be on the west coast so that tips it in favor of Golden State. Right now, from what I know, it's Chicago and Golden State. That could change between now and then. While there's an expectation it could go down right to the draft or a week before, not everyone interested has put their best foot forward. Warriors--Barnes and Lee get it done? I don't believe that it does. I believe they'll have to find another piece or another way to do it. Some of this also has to do with Love. If Love says Golden State and I won't re-sign anywhere else, it gives the Warriors some leverage. It depends on how Love wants to leave the Timberwolves.
Barnes and Lee is definitely not better than what I suggested from us. It's not even better than what Sacramento is willing to do.
Every team in the NBA can throw together a better package than David Lee and Harrison F'n Barnes. Oh, and Ric "What are you a Rockets fan?" Bucher is a Warriors homer and a notorious Houston hater. If he can't even remain employed with that tabloid ESPN then you know he's a hack.
