Or they'd have done exactly the same. You know, if they didn't have the superior numbers already there to surround the area and it had just been one of them.

If it were a cop doing the shooting chances are someone innocent would have gotten hit. Police officers are notorious for being bad shots. Especially beat cops. It's basically "spray and pray" with them.

Heh, that's true, thankfully he was better trained than the average cop and was better able to deal with the situation.

Or they would have called for backup, and the sight of a uniformed officer may have also been the extra incentive needed for the robbers to not draw their weapon.

It's all up in the air what would have happened. Whatever either of us puts forward at that point is just speculation.

Their weapons were already drawn, please don't make us go over this again, they didn't rob a store a gunpoint with holstered guns.

And it shouldn't. Police may have military backgrounds but most departments don't have consistent live fire training and operating a weapon with good marksmanship is something you have to consistently train to master keep up with. That costs money and time.

I always say that the responsibility of your and your families safety is your responsibility first and foremost. To me the Police are there to clean up the mess and investigate. Hardly will you every see an officer risk his life if he doesn't have to (and he shouldn't). They have families too and they know people have insurance for a reason.

Good point but it's not up to him to play Judge and Jury.

And we don't know if he did or didn't. It's like that scene from Treefrogs and Pines and Forrest...damn it, what's that movie name with Bradley Cooper and Ryan Gossling? Anyhow, Cooper jumped into the room shooting, then Gossling shot back, but in the public Cooper was the hero bc he claimed otherwise, and it ate at him for the rest of his life.

So yeah, a lot of this is speculation. Marine could have opened fire on armed guys without yelling stop or freeze. I would be ok with that, but I don't know the about the legal/moral ramifications of that situation. That would be arguably a judge and jury situation. Now, if he did yell freeze and the robbers didn't give up, then Marine didn't play judge/jurry at all.

nah, takes two to make a gunfight. THey're both at fault. Hell if I'd been injured I'd devote most of my resources to suing the Samaritan-ilante, saver of xbox's, because he's probably less judgment proof.

How did they have guns in their hands AND loading xboxs into their vehicle at the same time?

Was it Doc Ock doing the robbing?

Quite frankly, I would prefer the guy called the cops with a description and license plate.

but then, Im not such a gun fan that I want everyone running around with loaded weapons.
    Most people are f***in idiots.

That's fair, after all, we would be better off if the only people "running around with loaded weapons" were those who intended to break the law. It's horrifying to think that non-criminals would have the means to protect themselves, clearly that is 100% the job of the police.

The other guy was inside the store pointing a gun at people for money. This wasn't about property. The robber pointed a gun at the shooter.

IF they caught two guys in the back stealing from the warehouse unharmed, without masks, and shot them your point would be valid.

A civilian opened fire in a public place, putting innocent people at risk. That makes it a story.

Heh, it doesn't surprise me that you'd see it that way. It's like you go out of your way to make bad takes on every story that comes out.
