IMO, I think the feeling around the NBA has to be that the T-Wolves are keeping Love until the February trade deadline, and I'm not sure Morey has it in him to pass on Melo or others this Summer to gamble on Love late next season.

If you think about it (and hear everything coming out of the Wolves front office) the Wolves have little to no motivation to trade Love before than. They still have the hail mary pass of being able to offer him a new max contract in January right before they have to trade him. If the team takes off like the Blazers did last year, than who knows.... its possible he signs.

If they dont take off, and Love still wants to leave, are the offers for Love really going to be that much different???? Its still primarily going to be the same 4 or 5 teams involved with the same package offers because of the competition.

I still think Morey makes a draft night offer to Flip just because Morey tries everything, but its more than likely the case that Morey has his eyes set on Melo or a another start that shakes loose (big 3/Dirk) on July 1st, and views Love as a long shot that they have little chance to get before the trade deadline.

Is this what KLove is worth now? C'mon breh, drink some coffee or something, you're starting to go into Fantasy Island territory!

Are you sure about this? Or did this blogger get his information incorrect?
[rQUOTEr]What cannot be done, despite what many people have discussed on twitter and other media, is a trade of Parsons to another team, who decline the option and then let Parsons hit restricted free agency this summer, guaranteeing long term control. Such a scenario was floated by many who suggested the Rockets should make a deal for Kevin Love before the end of June so that the Timberwolves could control Parsons for more than just one season.

The CBA prohibits trades after the trade deadline for players whose contracts are set to expire at the end of the season. In order to trade Parsons, the Rockets must first pick up his option, giving him another year at $964,750. At the end of that year, Parsons will be an unrestricted free agent, free to sign with any team that he pleases.

Melo is a different situation where he could walk for nothing this Summer, getting Asik + Lin (expiring deals) + Jones for him would be a coup.

Why would they want Asik and Lin's expiring deals? Anthony is already an expiring contract if they just want cap space they don't need to pay Lin and Asik a year to get it.

With Lin and Asik, they remain competitive while maintaining financial flexibility. Plus, they can try and recapture some of the buzz from Linsanity while having first crack at resigning him.

This exactly. It also allows them to trade Chandler to a contender for decent pieces. I believe Tyson has great trade value still.

Asik has value as good sized, defensive C's that rebound like a mofo are highly sought after.

Lin has marketing ability. To simplify...Ca$h Money...

And the Knicks have 0 picks this year. Losing Melo and having no new faces give a big "ugh" to the fans. Wait another year? For what? Who will want to go to a dump of a team?

Throw in this year's pick...maybe even give them back their 2nd rounder too. Add those 2 mystery players with Lin and Asik and you just might soften the blow of losing Anthony to the point that fans stay interested. And no one ties up cash for the 2015 FAs.

Or get 0 if he walks...

Knicks have a new President, and I don't see them blinking with Carmelo. I think they call his bluff.

It's not a bluff if he genuinely wants to come to Houston (or anywhere for that matter). The Knicks would be making a huge mistake if they let him walk for free if they have the opportunity to salvage the situation. In fact, it's the exact same situation under which they ACQUIRED Melo.

Anything to the rumor that the Celtics are trying to acquire Love and Melo?

The rockets would have a better chance to get Love if he is going to be traded to King. Just loot at the Howard case as an example.

Kings would have to gut their entire team to trade for Love. Wouldn't be worth it for them.
