Nice pics of Westbury Square. I went to middle school in a little school that was attached to it in the early 90s (before they tore most of it down and built a Home Depot). When I was there, most of the shops were empty, so they let our school use the buildings for activities and school dances. It was a little creepy, but very cool at the same time. We used to have lunch in the empty main plaza with the big fountain.
I went to the Dirty's on Chimney Rock (between Richmond and Westheimer) to watch most of the Rockets '94 playoff games. I remember the place well.
I'm thinking of going on a trip down memory lane soon assuming I don't get shot. I am going to go to fame city/ fun plex (whatever it is called), west oaks mall, sharpstown mall, westwood mall ( which is office buildings supposedly) and maybe sharpstown golf course area.. along with the pond where vargos was. That would really suck to get arrested for trespassing. My luck it will happen. I will report back. That could be a full day of sightseeing. fairly recently I drove by there and stopped car and went walking around. Definitely high on the creep factor and I realized I must have looked like some kind of creep as well being there snooping it up. Genuinely sad what happened to that place and that area in general. Must have been love.. but it's over now. That place and area became ghetto starting around 85 and really got bad quick. Do you remember they had a haunted house there for a while? mrs wagners?
Tortilla's on Nasa Road One. I know there's one in La Porte...but the NRO location has special memories...watched both Rockets' championships there. Mowed down many margaritas and fajita potato skins. RIP Tortillas Nasa Road One.
Monterey House in Dickinson. They had the most amazing candy at the bottom of every basket of chips. I've dedicated my life to trying to copycat the recipe, and have discovered the secret ingredient (goat's milk), but just can't get it the same. Miss that place.
I'll play. I watched f-ing OJ and his white Bronco ruin game 5 at Mathias' on 1960. Spent A LOT of time throwing darts, drinking beer and seeing Dangermouse play at that place in the late '80's.
And I'd rather lose my balls to have you anywhere near our lovely town. Don't project your self-hatred on us, bro. We're not the Chili's waitress that left you with blue balls.
Oh, hell yeah. 20-something pages and no mention of the old blimp hanger across from Spring HS? I remember being in the car with my mom and hoping to see it every time we drove by. It was always so cool when it was outside the hanger.
I grew up in Katy. I am definitely glad I got out of there but I am young with different priorities than most living there. It still has good schools and some nice neighborhoods but Sugarland has outgrown and outclassed Katy.
Can you believe Akron,Ohio beat us out? AKRON OHIO... IF we could have do-over's, this would definitely be one! ....... ....... .......
Katz's waitress. And I nailed her eventually. And y'all would killllllll to have someone like me out there living off Peach Ridge near a golf course with 4,200sq ft of space and a lifted truck I don't need. I did have fun at y'alls beerfest about 3-4 weeks back though. Not terrible. I prefer to drink with dads trying to reclaim their glory and hide from their families as opposed to hipsters and douchey, shiny, button-up shirt, Affliction bros. How about Rockets Shop? That place closed. Got a white Barkley jersey, replica Drexler jersey (with the stripes) and a replica championship ring there (who didn't). Good times.
