How Many Times are you going to repost the same Tweet from 05/18/2014 The latest from Ric Bucher “Sources close to the situation tell me that Love if it’s a choice between the Golden State Warriors and the Houston Rockets, would chose the Warriors.” I don't put much stock into this simply b/c Love, Thompson, and Curry aint a title contending team, thats called Portland Bay Area. Parson's is highly coveted in the NBA and is a better young prospect than any other out there. We can offer Asik, Love, and T Jones for Love and thats better, young, cheap talent than the T wolves can get anywhere.
For what it is worth, Ric Bucher used to have "sources" in LA and NY. However, LA's front office cut him off and he was getting bad info in NY. He lost his ESPN gig and really has been persona non grata. He has attempted to foster sources in the Bay Area but without much success. He dislikes the Rockets front office because they literally tell him NOTHING. So, take whatever he says with a grain of salt... he has been wrong literally 80% of the times and like Broussard loves to "break" the obvious or steal from other writters.
+1 to Nook's Bucher comments. Yeah, Bucher has fallen mightily in terms of breaking news. At this point he is just a mouthpiece for the Bay Area. Like Sam Smith in Chicago, Sam Amico in Cleveland etc etc.
Most of this is just noise. The next big event is draft night, followed by "option day", followed by free agency, followed by "signing day". All of these occur over a 3 week span. Most questions about Asik, Lin, Parsons, and any big-time free agent should be answered by mid to late July. My best guess today is that Love is going to Boston, which should solidify Rondo there. That also means Rondo won't be going to NY, which is good for us if we're pursuing Melo.
And the Bulls have almost no assets. Carlos Boozer is not an asset. Sure one of the Rockets' main assets (Asik) would have to be repackaged to make sense for the Wolves, but the Rockets have much more they can give up, especially when you then consider what would be left behind for Love to play with.
Really???.... -2014 first round draft pick from Charlotte Charlotte's 2014 1st round pick to Chicago [Charlotte-Chicago, 2/18/2010] -2015 first round draft pick from Sacramento Sacramento's 1st round pick to Chicago (via Cleveland) protected for selections 1-10 in 2015, 1-10 in 2016 or 1-10 in 2017; if Sacramento has not conveyed a 1st round pick to Chicago by 2017, then Sacramento will instead convey its 2017 2nd round pick to Chicago protected for selections 56-60 (if this pick falls within its protected range and is therefore not conveyed, then Sacramento's obligation to Chicago will be extinguished) [Cleveland-Sacramento, 6/30/2011 and then Chicago-Cleveland, 1/7/2014] -2015 first round draft pick from Cleveland Chicago has the right to swap its 2015 1st round pick for Cleveland's 2015 1st round pick protected for selections 1-14 (if this pick falls within its protected range and is therefore not conveyed, then Cleveland's obligation to Chicago will be extinguished) [Chicago-Cleveland, 1/7/2014] + All of their own picks + Expiring 2014/15 Salary- Boozer & Dunleavy (These expiring contracts can allow Minny to sent more long term salary over to help clean books) + young cheap talent - Butler & maybe Snell + Solid starter - Taj Gibson (Boozer could also qualify) + Euro Stash (currently best prospect in Europe)- Mirotic Not that the Rockets assets are bad, but lets be a little realistic about the Rockets competition for trade packages IF teams like the Bulls both have the leverage (meaning a major player wants to go there ) & they pony up and are willing to use their assets in a trade.
Saw a report saying that Ainge is positioning to get Melo and Love in Boston. If possible then it would be a great offseason once again, repeat of what happened in 2007
The Bulls have assets. Their weakness is that in order to add a player like Love or Anthony they have to move a lot of salary and forgo bringing over Mrotic... It would require a lot of sacrifice. Also Boozer is not an asset.
They'd have to get rid of Gerald Wallace, Jeff Green, and Brandon Bass. Getting rid of GW is easier said than done..
They have three first round pick assets from Brooklyn and one from the clippers. That should allow them dump contracts.
Could Melo even show his face in NYC again if leaves as a free agent for the Celtics? I think not. Can't see him doing it.
With Parsons being declined his option, the Kevin Love ship has sailed. I'm guessing that Morey got wind that he had no chance at Kevin v. the other offers and decided to show some loyalty to Parsons while maintaining flexibility when a Melo or LeBron become available in a month. Edit: I guess technically we could sign + trade him long term if he agreed to play for the Timberwolves. I can't see him choosing to play there though.
With Parsons probably looking to get paid on his next contract, he could definitely be willing to go play there if they're willing to pay him big money.
You could also trade Parsons to Minnesota in a package on draft night, and then the Wolves would have the same ability to decline his option and match any offer. I don't think Love-to-Houston happens, but I think it's more likely (albeit small) with Parsons as a restricted FA rather than him playing out the final year of his contract. No way Minnesota would have interest in the latter scenario.
