Look at the original quote you are responding to. You're wondering why people hate superteams and using the fact that the rockets may potentially become one to justify that people shouldn't hate superteams. My response is that the way it was assembled matters.

Now you are going off topic with vagueries such as "the end justify the means" and statements such as "if the big 3 picked houston rockets fans wouldn't bat an eye." Of course rockets fans wouldn't, but we're not talking about the biased home team, we are talking about the general NBA fan. In the context of discussing Miami forming a big 3, a rockets fan would be a general NBA fan. If the big 3 decided to come together and play in Houston, you can bet the average Miami fan would hate the Rockets because a superteam formed there. Same concept.

People didn't complain about superteams in the 80s-90s...FAs flocking to LA and Boston.

What I would do is irrelevant (although there's something to be said about appreciating the journey in life). The proper analogy would be whether the average joe would like or hate me more in either scenario. And they would absoutely appreciate the guy who became rich because he put effort into it more than the person who stumbled upon his wealth/success. Look at how society views Bill Gates vs. Paris Hilton.

And you don't think other people are going to hate us for assembling a superteam, regardless of whether its done by trade? People hate us ALREADY.
Celtics and Lakers attempted to form a superteam in some form and they got hate too. Maybe the real world isn't a good analogy because in the sports world many people just flat out hate success of others no matter how it is achieved.

Even OKC can't escape the hate and they got all their players through the draft.

That's fair, there are definitely people who hate all success no matter how it's achieved. But in general, I would argue most people can appreciate success if it's earned through hard work, especially relative to success just stumbled upon. Look at the champion spurs teams last decade. Nobody would argue they had a big 3, and they won more championships than the heat have so far, but I don't sense the same level of hate.

Who cares about society? You don't get brownie points in life. Collusion, like massive free agent spending does not guarantee success, while you have to keep it fresh and improving year-by-year. People hate the Yankees, but they have 26 championships.

Those two aren't in the same field of work, while I have to say as dishonorable as Paris Hilton is or was...she's 1%er. Richer than most people in the world. Built her own empire...and has connection, inside and outside. She exploited her own fame and made shrewd business moves.

It takes careful planning to create cap room to sign three free agents. Did we not credit Morey for having the roster flexibility to create space to sign Howard, or chase another max guy this summer or next?

They chose to have their contracts expire at the same time. They could have signed the longer max, as Melo did, but they gave themselves more flexibility. Why is that smart if a GM does it but not if a player does it?

The Heat players don't work hard? How are the Spurs stars, who were all drafted, working harder than the Heat stars? Talent acquisition is one aspect of winning, and one of the ways to acquire talent is via free agency. Are you arguing that using free agency is bad?

People don't hate superteams. Most titles have been won by superteams. People seem to hate free agents taking their fate into their own hands.

You are the one missing the point.

In the 2014 Finals matchup, the Rockets(my favorite team since 1970) are NOT one of the two teams involved. Therefore, when watching the games I must have *someone* to root for, and one of the teams involved is from TEXAS and the other one is from FLORIDA.

I am a proud Texan, have been for almost 50 years....so in THIS instance, I am rooting for the TEXAS team.

and no, we are not rivals to the Spurs, they have what we want(a winning system and coach) and until we show we are on their level(soon I hope), we just wish we were rivals to them. Im sorry you cant understand that, I have made my position very clear.

I wish the league has some kind of system to prevent a team from stockpiling max players. The new CBA has made some changes on this exactly because of the way the Heat was assembled.

I will be saying this even if the Rockets end up having three stars. I really don't want that.

If you have played pick up games, I am sure you know how it feels when the best players decide to play together and just bully everybody else. It's just no fun.

Things I am really looking forward to in this series:

    1. In the words of Coach Nick from bballbreakdown: Coaches p*rn
    2. Lebron to be Lebron(In the playoffs he has had some nice moments, but he has been conserving a lot...I expect him to rise up to the challenge. And great players find ways to counter great strategies...
    3. Wade's resurgence. Totally different player with a healthy knee, and the Spurs are gonna have a handful if they just pack the paint and let Wade go ham from the perimeter.
    4. Revenge of Manu. Manu was really, really, really bad last year. So far, he has quitely returned to his form. Just like the Spurs wont see last year's DWade, the Heat will not see the same Manu this year. He seems very intent on making last year's futility a blip in his HOF career.
    5. The hamstring and ankle of Parker...The Spurs are frankly not beating the Heat without him. Period. They need Parker to win his match up vs two very inferior PGs in Chalmers and Cole.
    6. The release of the "Kwahi-ken"...Kwahi made Lebron's life miserable last year. And his aggressiveness from the start of game 6 allowed the Spurs to beat OKC. And btw he was tasked at defending Westbrook and Durant for key stretches...And made the play of the game by ripping the ball out of WB's hands sealing the Spurs victory.
    7. The bench factor: Miami's greatest weakness will be severely tested. They just wont get by the Spurs if they dont show. Battier, Lewis have to play huge roles to fill what Mike Miller did for them last season. Allen is still extremely clutch when he needs to be...The Spurs have some serious fire power off the bench. And a fat boy that can guard Lebron and play point forward...;)

Final thoughts: I believe the winner of game 1 this year will win the series. Miami should be hell bent on making sure there isnt a game 7. It wont be as cozy as they had it last year by having both game 6 and 7 at Miami. The Spurs HC advantage is one of the best, and their team really feeds off it. Miami fans tend to walk out prematurely if they think their boys might lose(ie. Game 6 in 2013). Revenge/retribution/Legacy are all huge words that will be mentioned throughout this series. The reason why I believe the Spurs win this season is quite simple. A group of old dudes waited 12 months and fought for the #1 seeded overall all for this moment. The moment is never to big for a team that plays with supreme confidence, regardless of who is on the court. For those reasons, I expect the Spurs to win this series.

    1) You don't HAVE TO root for anyone

    2) I fully understand what you're saying, just disagree. And that's cool, no hard feelings.

    3) Way to claim TEXAS to the highest degree, then discredit DAL... lol
