For some reason, I don't expect the show will devolve into a procedural legal drama. All the big deaths in the show are done to push the plot along. Ned's death starts the war in the north. Drogo's death prompts the birth of the dragons and sends Daenerys off to Slaver's Bay. Joffrey's death.. well I won't go into that. I don't think they kill people off just to mess with the audience.

I mean aren't we all as viewers just 'Reek' by now and GRRM is Ramsey. We just keep coming back for more abuse. Too scared to leave.

Spoiler I still don't believe them, I'm starting to think the next book will never come out, a final middle finger by GRRM to his fans. Or perhaps he'll be even more dickish and release the next book, but not the last one.
