Vets Accuse Bowe Bergdahl of Walking Away

    http://abcnews.go.com/Blotter/controversy-surrounds-bowe-bergdahls-capture-trade-taliban-members/story?id=23961090&singlePage=true

    Interesting quote:

At a private Army promotion ceremony in Washington in late 2012, a general discussed how he and a subordinate officer had helped lead search efforts in eastern Afghanistan with an infantry battalion at the time Bergdahl disappeared. "He left our organization and went over to the other side," the general told the small audience at the closed reception, which was attended by an ABC News reporter.

A Special Forces operator confirmed to ABC News the account of Bergdahl's walking away by Bethea, the general and other soldiers, including the substance of an emotional anonymous testimonial posted online in the comment section of the Rolling Stone article, purportedly written by another soldier who served with Bergdahl.

    Not lookin' good.

Those 5 ****bags were probably micro chipped a long time ago and they'll blow them all to hell as soon as they have some big terrorist meeting. Obama always gets the last laugh.

Why, thank you. One troll to another... You are a red line to me, and I am probably a red line to many others here. I appreciate any effort to spread truth across red lines. :)

I appreciate your efforts here, but you must realize - there is a very large segment here that will simply ignore any infraction if it in any way impact's POTUS's legacy or political status.

Don't expect people to actually listen to or be swayed by *any* argument or evidence you post here. No one here is changing their minds about anything. If you go into the "debate" with that understanding, you will get more sleep at night, because you will realize how little any of this "debate" matters.

It's like trying to debate on Democratic Underground, only you won't get banned for expressing a contrarian idea. But you're not changing any minds. It is what it is.

Well I don't really expect to change anyone who is a Republican or Democrat lapdog, those people aren't even real thinking people, simply puppets that parrot the party line. I do think the information should be out there for the (admittedly few) actual thinking people of the world.

In some ways I take what this kid did personally because it very easily could have been friends of mine who died as a result of his desertion.

Yet if it was Bush, the entire nation would praise him for being a merciful patriot and bringing an American citizen back home despite what he has done.

It bugs the hell out of me. It probably bugs the hell out of anyone who took the oath.

I was lucky. I got sent to Iraq, never had to do Afghanistan, did a relatively tame deployment compared to some of the stuff others went through. I can only imagine how pi$$ed I would have been had some dumb $hit (plenty of those in the Army) in my unit gone AWOL and ended up getting others killed in search efforts. I'd probably want to kill the dude myself.

As anyone who has served can attest, the military is a weird combination of the best and the worst this nation has to offer. And the good ones are really good, people you'd die for. To think that this guy just mentaled out and decided walkabout would be a good idea in a warzone, when anyone with a functioning brain could have told him the Army would come looking for him - and lose people trying to recover him - makes me mad. I want him to face the music for that, because that is what those who died for his actions deserve. That is justice, if there is any left to be had in this case.

At the same time, as I said, I want every American to come home at the end of the day, even if only to face a court-martial. At least we will give him a trial instead of a rusty knife. I want us to bring ALL of our people home. Leave no one behind has a special meaning in the military, douchebags not excepted. Bring EVERYONE home at the end of the mission, sort it all out later.

And that includes holding everyone up to the POTUS accountable for the boneheaded trades they made to make it happen. Adhering to the "Leave no one behind" credo does NOT absolve leadership of making stupid deals that will end up getting people killed in the future. They will ABSOLUTELY have to live with that in their consciences. If they have one, that is.

I'm sure some Republicans would think that, but the military and former military people would be every bit as angry about it.

He knew they'd come after him, that's why he left his sensitive equipment behind, so that he'd get as big a head start as possible. Take that stuff with you and they probably know you are gone in an hour or so, leave it behind and you've got till someone looks for you personally. They check the sensitive equipment a LOT more frequently than every individual soldier.

He knew what he was doing.

I'm trying to think of anything close to a precedent here. I can't think of one.

It would be as if the British in WWII traded Rudolf Hess for a POW. It wouldn't happen. It couldn't happen. They would have stared at you incredulously and then either laughed in your face, and/or investigated you for collaboration.

They want to even the score for Nixon. They can't stand the fact that the only President who has had to resign under threat of legal action is President Nixon. They tried with Clinton, they're trying with Obama, and they'll try with Hillary for her first four years. Really sad, especially when they completely ignore Bush's impeachable offenses.

I get it guys. Even ardent Obama supporters like yourselves can't defend this so lets deflect/spin and go on the attack against conservatives. You and the other 30% of the country that think Obama can do no wrong are proud of you.

The rest of us? Not so much.

Strange thing about libtards. When they have no answer to something instead of staying silent - like a rational person would do - they spout BS like "Neocons always want more war" or "They want to even the score for Nixon". None of these comments have anything whatsoever to do with the conversation at hand, but they make libtards feel better about themselves, and they allow themselves to safely dismiss any evidence or arguments brought up by their ideological foes.

It's their "Reset Button". They press it, and they can feel good about themselves again, and pretend anything said before it didn't happen. It works about as well as Secretary Clinton's "Reset Button" worked, of course... Great as long as you are willing to ignore all objective reality and don;t have to worry about real people dying because of your denial and ignorance.
