No one is currently blocking Javier Baez or Gregory Polanco or Andrew Heaney. All will conveniently be up in a few weeks once the Super-Two deadline passes. The same was true of Wil Myers, Bryce Harper, and tons of other top prospects. Space isn't just magically popping up in June for all of these guys.

This is a bogus point. Most MLB players have things they need to work on. Singleton was held down in favor of a 26 year old hitting .173 on a team that for a good while was the worst offensive team in baseball.

Yes, what's your point? That doesn't change the fact that he had legitimate things to work on, and it was logical for the Astros to let him do that in the minors. Javier Baez is being held back for a scrub. So is Gregory Polanco. And plenty of other people. Wil Myers was held back on a playoff team and it could have cost them a playoff appearance. There is nothing unique about what the Astros do - it's how the system is designed. Super-two is designed to assist the players, not the teams - it grants 22% of players arbitration eligibility earlier than they would otherwise get it. I'd guess the owners would be perfectly happy to scrap the system if the MLBPA doesn't like it.

Stashing Singleton in the Minors had absolutely nothing to do with Marc Krauss.

There's a very big reason why Singleton's call up came on the same exact day as his new contract.

My point is don't freaking lie about it first of all. Secondly, when you have a team with one of the worst stretches of baseball in the entire history of baseball you look like aholes when you're holding down your best talent in favor of scrubs like Marc Krauss, he of the .173 batting average, strictly for financial considerations six or seven years away. You have a responsibility to your fans to not be jaking it constantly and put the best talent on the field if it has the possibility of preventing a fourth consecutive 100 loss season.

I fully support the way Luhnow has stripped the club to rebuild but as some point you have to start trying to win.

But they have to lie about it. They do it, everybody does it, it's against the rules, and everybody knows it.

It's only provable if you admit it. Granted it's kind of stupid considering everybody knows what's going on, but it's just the way the game is played.

Blame the system - every team lies about it because that's the way it's designed. Just like pine tar - everyone is fine with it, but if you admit it, then the MLBPA has to do something about it.

They don't have to discuss potential player promotions. I'd much rather they didn't if they're just going to lie about it.

An interesting thing about this deal from Singleton's point of view, MLB does not drug test for mar1juana so he had an added incentive to accept this deal.

Pretty sure being on the 40 already made it to where he wouldn't be tested.

Someone told me a while back that he wasn't being tested anymore after being put on the 40 man roster. Not sure if that information is correct though..

The only thing that sucks about this is that I have to wait until tomorrow to see him on the field.

Personally, it doesn't really bother me. Mostly because the team hasn't held these guys back for a real long period of time, and because the team isn't good enough to make the playoffs with them.

KC basically did to Wil Myers what we did with Springer, but then TB took it too far.

He's going to be an All Star...and the Astros WILL renegotiate this deal for him later.

I found it interesting that Preston Tucker has been at 1B. Thinking he takes Singleton's position at AAA?
