I was hoping that he would join us, although the chances of that were slim.
Now, it seems that we should get the best pick possible for him. I seriously doubt, if we can obtain a decent NBA player in return for him.

Houston Rockets have his NBA rights and during the season they tried to sign him. His answer was negative. Our question is really simple. When he will go to the NBA?

“Nothing changed in my thoughts about the NBA. If I get a good chance, I will go. However, I am new in this team, they have treated me with respect and I only think about Barcelona. A team that helps me evolve my game and be better. So, I don’t know what will happen, if I will end up in the NBA this summer or the next one.

I will need a balanced combination between the contract I will be offered and my role in a NBA team, in order to sign there. I don’t mean of course that I will demand the same kind of money that I get from Barcelona.

For sure I am ready to sacrifice some money in order to get there. You have to make sacrifices in order to make your dreams a reality. But the way I will be approached, will play a pivotal role in my decision. I play in one of the best teams in Europe. I don’t want just to sign in the NBA without having a place in a team’s rotation.

I don’t want something like a guarantee, I know how things work in the States. But I want to be sure that I will get an equal chance and they will trust me in order to get there, fight and establish myself in the NBA”.

Well I believe he is make around what we paid Delfino (3 million) So that seems possible and I gotta believe we wouldn't sign him just to ride the bench here. So the odds seem good if we can first get the Love/Carmelo situation done.

Just trade his ass already. There are no good Greek NBA players. The country is rotten to the core.

I think Morey should sign him and bring him over to play in the summer league. If he plays well then his trade value is that much higher. If he dominates then perhaps you keep him and use his value to offer a fair deal to Parsons knowing you have a bach-up plan.

Only real problem with that is nothing is getting done until Asik/Lin for whomever situation is done. Money wouldn't work

Name one decent Greek NBA player.

And Koufos doesn't count because he's born and raised in America, where we have values. Giannis in Milwaukee also doesn't count because his family is from Nigeria and Greece have only decided granting them citizenship after Giannis got good at basketball and got drafted into the NBA.

Giannis has born, raised and played all his basketball in Greece. I say he does count.

The Greek didn't think that he or his family counted as Greek until recently. Besides, the NBA got him young so hopefully the Greek hasn't corrupted his mind too much yet.

You don't necessarily have to be born and raised in Greece to be considered a Greek god.

So I spent the last hour or so watching his highlight tapes as well as parts of a few games.

He seems to be pretty athletic. I could see him being effective next year.

Giannis considers himself Greek, and plans to play internationally for Greece, so you can count him as Greek. But Greek players don't do well in the NBA usually I'll give you that

Can't tell if serious...but I doubt the water is poisoned in Greece and besides I heard Patrick Patterson's half brother is from Heraklion

I think this is the answer he's looking for.

How many decent Nigerian players were there before Olajuwaon. How many decent Chinese players before Yao? How many decent German players before Schrempf? How many Congolese before Dikembe? How many South Afrikans before Nash? How many Haitians before Polynice??

We can go on and on. Spurious, and very disappointing, argument.

International basketball was not developed as much and scouted as much by the NBA back then. The NBA had few foreign players in the 80s and early 90s compared to now.

So there not being a good player from a country until Olajuwon/Schrempf, etc. could be more likely related to the lack of attention to international scouting. If there still isn't a decent player from Greece in 2014, they have no excuse the whole country sucks.

Greek players have been drafted and given chances at the NBA and they are smelly prima donnas who suck on the court.

Greek basketball, like the whole country, are controlled by mobsters and liers and cheats. You can't trust these people, period.
