I'm not saying it's impossible that something happens, but I'd be willing to bet that 90% of the things you're reading are made up. The guy writing those articles for Eurohoops has a suspicious resume according to certain people. It would be like Kobe's mom writing an article about the Clippers and basically making it sound like CP3 will sign anywhere except there. I think it's the same guy that had him traded to the Bucks or Pelicans earlier this year, which was bull**** as well.

Some "journalist" even reported that the HAWKS had made a direct 3-year contract offer to Pap, completely oblivious to how NBA player rights work. So yeah, don't worry too much until something's official and don't trust Greek, Spanish or Russian sources. They make most of their "content" up.

Stashing Pap looks to be the wrong option. They need to either sign him or trade him otherwise he'll be a lost asset.

The buyout isn't really the issue here. It's his huge rise in pay. Especially when it was rumored he was willing to for 1.5M USD/yr.
Equivalent NBA deal for this new contract works out to be around 4.7M USD/yr I think.

    Wrong.

That's $7.3 million for 3 years which is about $2.5 million US dollars a year

Right, Let's talk about him again in 2016. At this point there is no way to compete with that kind of money. Anyway I would not. Look what happened to the similar case of Teletovic in the Nets. There is no point in taking that chance in the present situation.

Why don't we just sign this guy. We need someone with potential to develop anyways. When he finishes his current deal he is gonna be even more expensive

Rockets still have the rights to Marko Todorovic. So who cares?

It's easier than it sounds. Morey would have to sacrifice a significant amount of cap space to sign him.

Nah, European contracts are listed in the amount of money earned after the taxes are deducted, so he's actually taking home 7.3 million dollars.

He wouldn't be the first player to leave money in order to go to the NBA, although i don't think him accepting those 1.5 mill $ someone mentioned was ever realistic..
If you can get Papa and llull next season splitting the MLE between them it'd be a home run for sure.

Yea that would work. I would honestly love to have him on this team as well. I read where he said he would be willing to come over but his "role" aka playing time has to be right. He also said he would come over for LESS money than he is making now for the right situation.
