I can tell you exactly what he is going to do. He is going to have Lowry and Melo's agent have them at the same location and he is going to have Howard, Harden, Parsons, McHale, Hakeem, Clyde, etc. all there to sit down and have a round table discussion to convince them as a team what their plan is and if convinced, demand a sign and trade from their respective teams.

Essentially, everyone (including picks) outside of Howard, Harden and Parsons are tradeable.

    Starting Lineup next year:

    P.G. - Lowry
    S.G. - Harden
    S.F. - Parsons
    P.F. - Anthony
    ..C. - Howard

    Bench:

NBADL rejects. (Regardless, 2 of the starting 5 will always be on the court at some point so staying competitive will never be a problem.)

Just imagine the 2 man combinations with fillers, as long as the fillers are not total $hit, you still look good.

    Lowry / Anthony
    Lowry / Howard
    Harden / Anthony
    Harden / Howard
    Parsons / Anthony
    Parsons / Howard

you get the idea. Looks freakin' good still even with 3 starters on the bench.

I was one of those who wanted Kevin Love so bad, now I don't want to. This team has lost my hopes and faith. The Rockets are now becoming those teams like Miami who want to build a superstar team and win. I'm not into that "creating a super team" to win a championship. That is less fun. What happened to the days where players compete and challenge themselves to win with out having a super team where they just wanted to beat up other superstars? Honestly I'm more and more losing my love for the NBA because superstars today just want to get together to win. And that's no fun, it's boring and less fun it's all to easy. I like it more back in the days when Superstars used to compete and challenge themselves to be the best. Now a days they all want to easy and just be with the beast team. Boring. I'm more and more disliking the Rockets and the NBA and if Carmelo ends up being here in Houston then i'm leaving this team and the NBA in general.

Good riddance dude.. You know what's less fun than your favorite team getting superstars and winning titles? Your favorite team losing in the first round every damn year.

IDGAF how we get to be contenders, as long as we become contenders

What this team really needs is a new coach, a championship type coach and a true point guard. And better role players. We don't need Carmelo or Kevin Love. Yet, this team will go the opposite. I'm more and more disliking this team. No i'm not a bandwagon fan. I just hate today's NBA where superstars want to be together to win. Which is boring and no fun. I hope Morey fails to get Carmelo and Kevin Love or any other loser superstar.

If you want a team with a starting 5 with superstars might as well root for the U.S national Basketball team.

    Chase superstars.

Develop chemistry with a great coach over a long period of time.

Draft in the top 5 (and draft well). Let simmer 5 years.

Which of the three appears to be the Rockets' option for at least dreaming of getting a ring?

    I take option 2.
Look at the Spurs. That team is winning with 2 stars and one of them is old. They have good role players who some of the role players are D league players. But that doesn't matter, why? Because coaching is what makes that team so good. Gregg Popovich = best coach in the NBA, maybe in history. Coaching is important in this league, sports in general. Not building a dream team.

I'm with this dude, give me the Courtney Lee's, Danny Green, Leonard, Battier....etc. We need good solid defensive minded role players that take good shots to bail out the stars.

I totally agree. It was much more entertaining when the stars didn't team up together.

Nothing better than watching Magic Johnson carry a team of scrappy role players like Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and James Worthy. Ditto for Larry Bird leading the overmatched likes of Kevin McHale, Robert Parish and Dennis Johnson. Who can forget the Cinderella story of the underdog Celtics with Russell, Cousy and Havlicek. You had to love a no-name bunch like those Bulls teams of Jordan, Pippen and Rodman. It was so easy to root for those working class Lakers teams with Chamberlain, West and Baylor. How about that starless Knicks team with Reed, Frazier, Monroe, Debusschere and Bradley?

You're on the right track. After all if all you're going to do is to form super teams then Houston might as well trade Harden to OKC. Can you imagine Durant, Westbrook and Harden on the same team?

Damn it, To hell with championships! Give me a scrappy team that goes 41-41 every year! They are scrappy I tell you, (s)crappy!

Yea, we had a bunch of scrappy hard working role players from 09-12. Felt wonderful watching them try real hard and never make the playoffs.

Get as many stars here as you can, then add the role players.

People bashing those who do not like super teams always come with the same: lose in the first round, have an average season then nonsense. That's not the point! We do not need anymore superstars!! Howard joining Harden is not necessarily forming a superteam but chasing Love and Melo is definitely that and I do not like it either. If not for the sake of it, look at salaries! You want to have 3 players with 75% of the team's budget?? I rather sign a few players than one 'star'. For example, I'll take Morrow, Garcia and Corey Brewer at 7 million each over Melo at 20 million a year.

The CBA gives you the means to be over the cap to add role players in the form of exceptions. It does not provide ways to add superstars.

There is no coherent argument for not adding a superstar if you have the chance.

That's not my point. My point is have at least two superstars, have a championship coach, build around a superstar with good role players. Take a good look at the Spurs. They don't have a dream team. They have two stars, with good role players and they're winning. That's because they have a great coach and probably the best NBA coach ever. That's the type of team I want. The Rockets need to get rid of Mchale, get a real coach, a championship coach and build around Harden and Howard.
