Console Wars Thread! PS4 vs. Xbox One vs. Wii U Fight!

Looks like they just lowered the values today, not that good of a deal anymore

The values fluctuate, but overall it's still better than anywhere else at the moment. All in all, I traded in 15 games and got about $500. Not too shabby considering I purchased the majority of my games on sale.

 

Did a trade in yesterday evening, got a great deal! Most of the values came back up after Monday and are still looking good

 

Duh duh DUUUUUUUUH.... Wii U outsold the PS4 again this week, probably because of the Mario Kart 8 launch.

This is basically a non-story, but I like being the guy that occasionally mentions the Wii U in this thread. It's really is a great system and you can pick them up for pretty cheap since sales have been slow. Haven't played a bad game yet.

You forgot a very important prerequisite: It outsold PS4 in JAPAN

It's less than a non-story because the PS4 just launched there and doesn't have games the Japanese want to play right now.
You'll also notice Vita is outselling every console that isn't named 3DS. Japanese are mobile crazy right now.
When the games line up, they will buy PS4s.

Side note, I have a Wii U and I have Mario Kart 8 pre-ordered, but the system definitely has some bad games. (Wii Play U for one...)

 

I regret my Wii U (mk8 might turn it around) and Xbone purchase. The PS4 is probably my favorite out of the three because of the slick OS, live streams, controller, etc. With all that said, I haven't played any games on either of the three lately and am looking forward to MK8. Still on the fence about Watch Dogs and might pick up TF when it's $20 on PC.

I think Target has the best pre-order bonus. You get a 5 gift card and the plastic steering wheel. Some reason my s/o plays better with the wheel vs controller.

I was browsing the PS3 store last night and saw they have Nobunagas Ambition games available, but no Romance of the Three Kingdoms? They have Dynasty Tactics 2 there, and no RoTK? Who decides what games get ported over? I would almost kill to have RoTK on my PS3/4 or Vita. Koei is considering bringing over the PS4 version of Nobunaga, but didn't bring over RoTK 12 =/

 

I don't "regret" buying my Wii U, because I bought it to play Nintendo games (in HD) and it absolutely does that. With that said they haven't given me too many reasons to be excited. MK8 looks awesome, and I really hope they announce the new Zelda (and they better have Retro making a new Metroid Prime!!!). I'll likely be picking up Smash Brothers as well.

 

I'm thinking about buying a Wii just to play the Metroid Prime Trilogy.... Either that or just get the game's separate on the gamecube... Man I want to play Metroid Prime

 

They screwed up not making the original Wii HD. MP3 is unquestionably one of the best FPS I've ever played and I think quite a few people missed out on it. I may be in the minority on this one, but the motion controls really make the game.

 

I'm one of those who missed it and I haven't played Metroid since the NES. Recently I have developed a weird craving for the Metroid Prime Series which I knew about but never really looked at. I did a little research and I am now convinced I want to play it I just don't know exactly what's the best route since I never owned a Wii..... If they were to release it with HD graphics on the WiiU I would throw Nintendo my money..... There is a lot of people out there who consider prime one of the best video games series of all time...

 

There is a trilogy pack (which I can't seem to ever find) where they packaged all 3 together for the Wii (not to mention I think they're still charging $50 for it). I wouldn't hold my breath on them remaking it for Wii U (although I would absolutely buy it if they did, and I agree a lot of other people would as well), but I'm not counting it out completely either. During VGX around December Reggie was wearing a Samus pin and refused to comment on why. This is also right around the time Retro was finishing Donkey Kong (which they pimped a little on the show). My hope is they have been quietly working on a Prime follow up all along, and just didn't go into full swing until Donkey Kong was finished. Hopefully they kick some infoz...

 

Smash Bros is a big reason why I plan to eventually get a WiiU but if the announce a legit Metroid title for the WiiU that would be an instant purchase for me.

Hoping they do a Smash Bros WiiU bundle later in the year when it's released. Or Metroid bundle if they do make a new game, either one is fine with me

 

Seems like they do a bundle for every major release they have right now. I would be surprised if they didn't have a bundle for Smash.

 

I was just looking at the trilogy pack and the cheapest is at $54.99 used with prices going all the way to $300 new...... The original gamecube games are much cheaper but I wont get the motion controls and what I would assume are better graphics but I would have to buy a Nintendo Wii..... Would much rather get a WiiU...... I do know I have a gamecube somewhere in the house thou...

 

Wii U can play Wii games, it has built in backwards compatibility. You're right about the games though; MP3 is the only one built from the ground up for Wii so the others won't have motion controls unless you buy the trilogy pack.

 

Yeah so that means I will be buying one eventually. Just will need to move my virtual console games over from my Wii, still play Punch Out and Super Metroid from time to time

How does Nobunaga's compare to RoTK?

I ask because I was addicted to RoTK 7, 8, and 10... years later I bought NA: Iron Triangle on a whim, but never got around to playing it. My impression was that it was pretty much RoTK but in a different setting. Anything I should know beyond that, and/or is that completely wrong?

 

Work and CPA studies, I can't keep up with all these new games.
