    I'm sorry, but that article kinda shoots itself with the foot when it says itself that REPORTED RAPES are more prevalent in the U.S. Women in western nations are A LOT MORE VOCAL AND FEAR LESS REPERCUSSIONS WHEN THEY CRY WOLF. Reported rape statistics are pretty much useless unless comparing two Western nations where women are equally vocal.
    I'm a brown dude who has traveled to Bangladesh, India, Pakistan and obviously born and raised in the States and I would trust the safety of a close female relative/friend of mine in the States over those places.

    you didn't read the article closely. They believe rape rate is 10x the reported rate. Reported rate is 1.9. 1.9 times 10 is 19 which is less than the US.

    The lack of police action is equally as despicable as the crimes themselves. India needs massive reform in its legal system. Hopefully Modi can find a way to overhaul the justice department, and cleanse out all of the bad seeds from the police force, as well as re-writing the laws regarding sexual crimes. It's completely out of hand, and it starts from the top.

    Bored --> rape? Bored men are everywhere, you don't see them rape women like these Indians do (mind you, not saying all Indians). More like animal instinct kicks in, but lacks the mental capacity to control it. Evolution takes time, no "reform" is going to fix that.
