They don't have them in Houston anymore? They're still around in the DFW area. I remember back in college after working out, we used to destroy pizza and Chinese food buffets. Grandy's would always win, though. I don't know what they put in that gravy. We could barely make it through a couple of plates before that fiber-rich concrete-fortified gravy kicked our butts.
Sadness. I used to damn-near live there and that Sound Warehouse off of Westheimer and... something... there was a 3rd record store or something nearby that I can't remember the name of. And now this will annoy me for weeks.
Very good independent book shop. They have big name authors in all the time, recently had Nolan Ryan. I have family that works there and know the owners well. As for me I'm a product of the 90s so I miss Luther's BBQ (before pappas bought them out) Mamas Cafe Maggie moos near dairy Ashford and memorial Hollywood video Krispy Kreme Astroworld The place that had the rides in memorial city mall(no idea what it was called) The Aeros Comp USA
I believe it was Exhilarama and then it became the much smaller Tilt? Fooled around with an ex there a long time because it was pretty dark. There also was a children's playground on the second floor called Kingdom of Children or something similar. I would love to see pictures of the old Memorial Mall. Most of my friends that have moved here from out of state don't believe me when I describe how it used to look before the new renovations. Same goes for the Memorial area in general and the Galleria. Very different now. RIP Sharper Image.
I worked cash control one summer for Kids Kingdom and Outer Limits...the summer after working at the batting cages at Outer Limits. Outer Limits was the one down by where the ice rink is now...it was batting cages and a roller rink. Kids Kingdom was upstairs and had games for little kids. Exhilirama opened later near the food court...it was just an arcade before that...and returned to being an arcade after Exhilirama shut down. I have memories of that mall going back to the 70's. Amazing how much it's changed, honestly. Now Air Liquide is moving their corporate headquarters to a new tower right there connected to the mall. MetroNational has blown up.
The Roxie...The hangout for Memorial punker wannabees. The Agora Ballroom...what's that smell? The Cotton Eyed Joe...where is everybody? Bentley's...because I don't want to drive to Cooters. Cooters...wth
