We thought Chicago was going to as well with Asik. You never know. It all depends on who Dwight and Harden want.

I can really only see two possibilities.

One possibilty is that either Melo tell the Rockets don't even bother, or the Rockets have worked out a trade for Rondo or Love(or someone else we don't even know). In which case, Morey's visit will be to a MLE level FA. I'd imagine someone like Vince Carter would be on their target.

The other possibility is that nothing happens between now and FA. In which case the Rockets would surely meet with Melo before everyone else.

This. I forgot all about him. IMO he fits the bill better than Lowry when it comes to playing along Harden.

He's gonna visit Phil Jackson and begging him to take back Jeremy Lin.

I think the question really should be?

If Morey can't line up deals for Lin & Asik either on draft night or leading up to July 1st is he really even in position to talk to anyone?

I think Melo would be target 1A on July 1st in a vacuum, but the fact is there will be a ton on Morey's plate circling around the draft whether it be both simultaneously looking at deals for-

-Making a pitch to Flip & the Wolves for Love (Long-shot but you gotta at least make a best and final until February pitch)
-Moving Lin & Asik for deals that help their position going into free agency
-Making draft day trades that help their flexibility or help them upgrade their assets for whatever comes next

The thing about Pau is - - recruit him as part of a Spanish Invasion. Bring over Llull and/or Fernandez and/or etc etc and rebuild your depth effectively with guys who are both good and enjoy playing basketball together.

Pau failed with Dwight? Er, perhaps the Pringles person coach guy had a hand in that failed pairing.

^If we lose Asik, Pau would be a fantastic replacement. Unfortunately I think Memphis has the inside track.

Perhaps we should send Emeka Okafor a fax?

I think we'll be able to make a better guess after draft night, where I expect some trades. But right now, I'll guess Deng.

Asik was vulnerable to a poison pill. Bledsoe is not. I think sometimes you do know.

My sources tell me that Daryl is going to use a holographic gizmo to project himself hovering in front of the door of every possible target. A flunky places the small box on the ground, rings the doorbell, runs and hides behind a bush, or peeks around a corner, and presses the remote control when the door opens. Each target has a targeted pitch by Morey Man. It will revolutionize free agent recruiting! Daryl has always been keen on the latest technology. If a maid answers? A girlfriend? Wife? Boyfriend? The box has a timer that, once activated, repeats the pitch every few minutes until the battery expires, or it gets hit by a baseball bat, or tossed out the window.

I can't wait to see how this works.

I think it may be Lowry because I see another team going for Pau before us.

I honestly don't get the Melo stuff.... Morey spoke last week about trying to convert the team defense into the top-10 level. At the same interview, he said that Rockets have enough offense power to get an NBA title in his mind.

I understand that "more than enough" is better than "enough" offensive power, what I can't see is a team that has Harden-Parsons-Melo in his starting lineup reaching a top 10 defensive level.

I think Lowry is more attainable and likely a much better fit than Melo, that's why I would bet for him.

July 1st is one of those fun times where Morey is forced to show his cards about what the team's needs are.

They got along from the reports I read. If anything, Gasol's beef was mostly with D'Antoni. Dwight was unhappy with D'Antoni and Kobe but he enjoyed playing with Gasol, a very good high post passer.

Gasol may have concerns over his role next to Dwight again and may prefer a team that has a starting C job open. Or maybe he wants to return to Memphis and play with his brother. Who knows what his motivations are? But it would be nice to have him as a PF/C and maybe play him 25-30 mpg so he doesn't burn out.

Would have been nice to have him in the Portland series, for one thing, so you can get extra size in without sacrificing spacing totally.

Except there won't be a poison pill for Bledsoe. He will get max $$ for sure and Phoenix will match him just like New Orleans matched on Gordon.

I think the only way they don't keep him is if they sign and trade him to another team that he wants to play for. This would probably take a lot of assets to acquire because I promise they will try to flip these assets acquired into Kevin Love and in turn hope to build around Gogi and KLove. The franchise has really turned itself around and McDonough is a Danny Ainge protege. He won't give up on such a valuable player for nothing.

I expect Gasol to be a Rocket at the beginning of next season.
