It's currently a construction zone from 290 expansion. The last I remember seeing it was the early 2000s. After Malibu shut down, I think it turned into a home and garden store which sold mostly pebbles and stuff I think. I remember Ventures too. It's all coming back to me.
I see you brotha. If I remember correctly, The Pasta Company had good bread, and they allowed kids to color on the table. Good times
The old West Oaks mall before it went downhill. Ellington Field and the 28 mile shuttle option from IAH. Cineplex Odeon theaters. Watched incredible movies like Terminator 2, Jurassic Park, and Braveheart there. Atchafalya's. Panjo's Pizza. The old Antone's Import Company on Taft. Sub's Miami Grill.
The Ranger Drive-in, by Gulfgate in my hometown of Houston, which had carhops, killer chicken fried steak sandwiches and burgers, great malts, wonderful rings, and their glorious Dip Fries. The Old Munich Inn on Telephone Rd., which was, as far as I'm concerned, the best German restaurant in Texas while it was there. Run by a German family, everything was good, including the waitresses with their German accents (cousins brought over from the Old Country - this was in the 1960's and 1970's), who dressed in short German style skirts and low cut blouses, smiling the entire time. Live German music on weekends. Hell, I'm hungry just thinking about it, but it has been gone for many years.
The Stables restaurant on S. Main and Greenbriar. Sonny Looks on S.Main. Cabo which was downtown and on Richmond. 8.0 (Shepherd Square) Jones Bar (downtown on Main st) XIT (restaurant/bar on W.Gray) Power Tools (club downtown) River Cafe (Montrose)
Blockbuster Music...I spent a lot of time their listening to/discovering new music as a tween/teen. Other than 120 Minutes on MTV, it was about the only way I could really hear stuff that was under the radar. And while I'm add it, Sam Goody too. Not a place, but also Columbia House and BMG Music. I think I probably did the dozen free CDs for a penny routine at least a dozen times between high school and college.
How about the giant Fiesta in Clear Lake? They had a marketing campaign for months with billboards around town that said "U.F.O coming soon" (Unbelievable Fiesta Opens).
Anyone remember a small amusement park type place that was on the side of one of the highways? I think it was Magic Mountain or something. I remember they had a maze that was really dark with a bunch of fans running that was really awesome.
Fajitas restaurant in Greenspoint. I still miss their Celebration Nachos! I must of went there a 100 times as a kid.
Big Texan Lanes. My dad and I went there almost every weekend. The drive in theater on 45 and West rd. Where Frys is now.
I've seen them as combos with Dairy Queen in malls in the DFW area. Still around, in Pasadena Man, I hope so. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/kJ5vxTyLnQc" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> <iframe width="420" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/gcHhop5PKNs" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> <iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/A_03bO0FXOE" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

I remember those billboards. It was such a huge letdown that it was a grocery store! They had the best flowers, though- I would buy cheap roses there for girls. Turns out they had a HUGE hydroponics farm upstairs and grew their own flowers. Also funny- the area to the right of what's now Burlington coat factory is now business offices- where I work. The hydroponics farm is still there, just sitting and gathering dust. It's about the size and layout of an Imax theater. The owners think it's a gold mine and won't lease it out to us, even though the only access is from our offices. I go up there sometimes when I need some quiet.
I miss that place. I had my 9th birthday there. Last time I was there before it closed. Of course we can't forget:
