But Kevin Love is not a bad looking guy. I'm sure he can satisfy your wife, no?

I love Parsons to death, but while we have Harden and Dwight. We need to do THINGS now. Don't know another time we will have all this star power in Houston.

I would sign shane battier to replace parsons for less money..who can play defense with howard and bev. Battier shoots preety good corner threes consistently unlike parsons who started the season shooting below 30% then 42% and in da playoffs again below 30%.
    howard
    love
    battier
    hardeen
    beverly
    Or
    howard/d-mo
    melo/covington
    parsons/battier
    bev/cannan
    hardeen/troy Daniels

I'd be looking to move Parsons for an upgrade somewhere, whether its for Love or not.

Hell yes to the question. More importantly I'm beginning to wonder if moving Parsons is a necessity as long as we have Harden at the 2. I just can't envision this team being able to defend the perimeter with a Harden/Parsons duo.

Don't get me wrong, Parsons is a fantastic overall player. His development has been excellent. Unfortunately most of that has come at the expense of defense, and I kind of suspect that it has a lot to do with him wanting to prove how much he's worth when he becomes an FA. That's not a good mindset and that kind of focus has sort of transformed him to a type of player we don't need.

Add to that it's difficult to move Lin's contract and Lin is not going to become more compatible with this system. The guy is an elite ultra fast PnR guy, and that's being wasted here which is hurting his trade value. Parsons has the perfect contract to package with Lin's.

We need someone who can defend the best opposing SG/SF and hit a 3pter at a decent clip. Harden is never going to be that guy and we need to build this team around its best players. Our SF needs to be a lockdown defender IMO in order for us to be an excellent defensive team. Howard + a defensive SF + Beverley gives us a chance to be a legit top 5 defense if the players give the effort and the coaches set up the system. If that SF can hit a 3pter, then we have more than enough firepower to remain an elite offensive team.

Who is that guy though? I think there are only a handful of those guys but we absolutely need that piece. We need a younger Shane Battier. A Kawhi Leonard. Aaron Affalo. Jimmy Butler would be incredibly awesome. Some riskier propositions in Quincy Pondexter or Khris Middleton. We need someone like that.

Great post, the guy is Iman shumpert, he's been working in the gym since Knicks last game, I follow him on twitter all he talks about is getting better and how he shoots so many shots everyday feels like his arms going to fall off. I like this mentality, trying to get better at the 3pt, & is already a lockdown solid body long length defender. He guards 1-3 rose, wade, George etc he always wants the teams best perimeter player.

Knicks in : parsons, Lin, asik
    Rockets in : melo, shumpert

    Bev - lockdown D
    Harden
    Shumpert - lockdown D
    Melo
    Howard - lockdown D

His defense has dropped so hard from his rookie year.

I don't see New York letting Shump go, especially if Melo is gone. He would probably be their best player and he's signed to a rookie deal still.

But if Melo is available... I'd still want Love. :)

If a good all around player like Chandler Parsons cannot fit next to Harden because Harden needs so much defensive help and must have an elite defender at the SF even when the starting 5 already has elite defenders at the C and PG, then you have to question whether Harden is really the kind of top guy that you build a championship team around.

Morey said it himself, your top guys on title teams have to be 2 way players. If you are not an elite defender by talent, you at least have to be average by being diligent.

It's fine to go out and look for elite defenders, but there is a cost of getting them, a great cost for the true top guys in their primes like Andre Iguodala.

Parsons is probably the only guy who fits into the triangle

They have hardaway jr. to step up and start, if we make a play for love and end up losing parsons, Call up Phil see if he would swap jones for shumpert.

    Bev - D
    Harden
    Shumpert - D
    Love
    Howard - D

Yes and No. If it means giving up Parsons at $900K then Hell No. But it obviously means giving up Parsons at $9M then yeah I suppose so. As much as i like him.

It's unfair to say that Harden is bad at D.....

... No one has ever actually seen him play it.

Great post. I'd actually love to package Parsons and Asik to Atlanta to get Millsap and Demarre Carroll (and possibly something else small like Antic) Carroll could give us that solid 3&D guy that could be a better fit next to Harden than Chandler.

(Maybe even Parsons, Lin, Asik for Millsap, Carroll, Schroeder or something like that.)
