I don't like this idea of waiting until next year or the year after. You go after what you can get now. Lebron or Love may re-sign or not, they might suffer career ending injuries or not. We have a short window to challenge for the championship and the time to pull the trigger was last year.
Love isn't making past the trade deadline in Minnesota unless they become this year's Blazers. The Wolves are going to sell him to the highest bidder once it becomes clear that he's leaving in 2015.
I remember people thinking a similar thing about Aldridge this year. We would trade Asik for him LOL. What can we give for Love? Assuming he wants to come here and not LA. They wont want Lin and Asik with their balloon payments considering they have Rubio and Pekovic. Harden for Love?
We got our asses kicked because we went up against a Power Forward that we couldn't defend. I prefer us not getting Love because he would have been torched as well vs Aldridge. I do think we need a point guard, and it doesnt have to be a 3rd star PG but a winner is what is more important. Chalmers would fit perfectly here being a starter on a championship team. Lowry might not be a winner but he is a proven veteran who can come in as well. I believe in the quality of a whole team rather than 3 superstars. I never understood why most teams dont wanna build their team from the mold of San Antonios Dynasty rather than a Big 3 team.

After the failure against Portland fans should know that you don't add another flawed player to the flawed players that we have. They need the "whole package" a good shooting defensive player. No to Josh.
Exactly. LMA would have had to chase Love out to the three-point line. Maybe Stotts (sp?) would have countered with more of Thomas Robinson at the 4, and moved LMA to the 5, but then Love would have torn TRob to pieces.
On the same number of shots, love has 6 points more because Aldridge can't stop fouling him, with Love outrebounding him every single time and throwing in nearly double the assists to round it out.... But this isn't unique, that's been basically the formula for their past 3 years since Love broke out (remember, 3 years younger).
Melo to Houston talks. Phil Jackson or Morey... how will negotiations go? Who will have the upper hand?
I don't want to be the highest bidder. Getting Love means trading substantial assets (probably Asik, Lin, Jones, Parsons and atleast 2-3 picks) at the deadline, HOPING he re-signs, HOPING they develop chemistry, pushing back adding MLE players another year. Getting Melo means giving up marginal assets (probably 1 pick and Dmo) to dump Lin/Asik, having a full year of chemistry, perhaps getting a SnT so MLE can be used as well, etc. etc. Melo makes more sense right now if he wants to come here. Just stop. Melo has never made his team worse.
Aldridge may be able to beat Love from the top of the key and along the baseline, but as we saw with Asik, if he's going to hit those shots there is nothing you can do about it. I'd be surprised if Aldridge destroyed Love in the post, considering Love's strong base and post defense. I think the real difference is Love makes him work on the other end.
Kevin Love over Carmelo and it's not even close. Carmelo is a great scorer but he plays waaaay too much one and one which is exactly what the Rockets DON'T need. He's a ball stopper and that's a fact. On the other hand Love fits exactly with what the Rockets need. We all know he can shoot the 3 and rebound, something the Rockets could use more of, but what gets over looked is his ability to play within an offense... to move w/o the ball and set screens. This is something Carmelo DOES NOT do. In particular, Love knows how to set a high pick n roll screen, something the Rockets do a lot with Harden and Howard/Asik. The difference being that neither Howard or Asik can shoot from the outside so everything has to be dumped down low or, as we've often see, Harden is forced to take the shots. With Love, he can either pass the ball off or keep it himself to shoot. And we all know he can shoot the ball. Check out Love's highlights and you'll see what I mean. I prefer signing Melo and keeping Parsons and Jones rather than trading away everybody for Love and hoping he doesn't run off to LA.
