First, Farnsworth also brings some edge. I like this signing, and I hope that he sticks.

Sipp has been incredible and would have yet to allow a runner if it wasn't for Mike Trout.

Also, your last statement is what makes the 'pen tick in my opinion. It must be nice knowing that they either need to be counted on for 2-3 innings instead of never knowing if Figuroa or Harrell will make it out of the fifth. Sipp/Qualls have seemed to really work well together and I am hoping that a healthy Crain/Albers will be the third cog to a three inning rotation.

You're really stretching things when you are blaming Mike Trout reaching on an infield "single" against Keuchel, to Sipp giving up an infield "single" against the Mariners. :)

Is it early enough in the day to blame that on being tired and a little hung over? Because I am going to shamelessly blame it on that :)

Trout is so good he affects games involving teams other than the Angels.

I do recall seeing a couple of Mariners wearing these:

Just a little tidbit - the record for most consecutive games with a HR in MLB history is 8. Dale Long, Don Mattingly, and Griffey Jr. are tied for the record.

I cannot think homerun streaks without having Kevin "Small Shoes" Mench come to mind.

Funny that you're worried about the lost month of extra production... and I'm worried about the lost 6+ months of extra production from last year's super-2 deadline passage.

Hell, he could have challenged Myers for ROY since there was less competition last year. ;)

(I'm not here to start that debate again... just comparing the two "lost" opportunities).

I do expect the Stros to make another offer for a long-term contract to include his arbitration years/first free agency years... but at this rate, it will be more than the 7 years/$23 million.

That George Springer contract offer wasn't nearly as friendly as it was originally reported. Apparently it was like 7 mill guaranteed, with 3 team options that had the possibility of 23 million, I would have turned that down too without hesitation.

I too expect the Astros to try and lock him up, but given the fact that they have tried this with multiple prospects and only one has agreed to such a deal, I don't expect it to happen soon. Right now Springer is a supernova, so I'm sure they will wait until he equalizes before the next discussion.

I wonder if his agents will, in the same vein, try to engage in discussions now given his ridiculous run.

I think its in both side's best interest to see how the entire season plays out. Nobody's going anywhere, and Springer won't get a raise next year even if he hits 50 HR's.

Players have been on isolated hot streaks before... then again, some players tear it up after their initial struggles and don't stop for 10 years.

The best news is that the Astros are currently winning for the first time in what seems like forever, and he's a part of this team for at least the next 6 years.

McHugh with a 7 pitch inning. All strikes 2 strikeouts. Keep it up!

McHugh gets a lot of swings and misses with his stuff. He isn't overpowering but gets it done. 4 Ks in 2 IP.

Feldman, Keuchel, and McHugh are a sneaky good top three.

Springer 2 to warning track so far. 3rd time's a charm?

Wouldn't it be nice to be able to afford to have them as our #3-#5 guys :)
