I'd entertain offers for Kyrie, but I'd hesitate dealing for Exum. Regardless of his talent, there's been too much talk of him training with Kobe and whispers of him wanting to play with LA. You'd basically end up with another Kyrie situation.

It's difficult to use a pure monetary number to judge contracts because the NBA has a soft cap, but I do believe this quote is interesting.

All-NBA features 15 players. Let's expand that and say 20~30 players are in the running each year for those spots. This would imply that if a player belongs in the top 20~30 should be given max extensions. That seems on the low side to me, especially because you're technically getting the prime years of these players. Whereas with someone like Dwight or Melo in their 2nd/3rd contracts, the end of those contracts may end up being depreciating value and therefore much more risky.

I agree, however having exum and embiid would ideally lead to chemistry which would keep them in Cleveland together. Kyrie wants to leave bc they can't win (plus the worst management decisions along with Detroit) so selling early could evade lebron 2.0 and would leave them with 2 franchise players, plus ppl would be lining up to play with those 2 after a couple seasons (granted I think embiid will be the best C and defensive player in the league while I think exum will be a top 5 pg plus give then blanketing size/length to eventually be a good defensive team. And with the east being so weak, they could be a playoff team after 1 more lottery bound season

It's very difficult to guard the PG position and be good in other areas of the game unless you're a super athlete like Westbrook. Most of the time your best PG defenders are guys who focus solely on just that, defense.

Kyrie to LA would seem to make some sense as well...he seems like he would fit in nicely there.

I wouldn't trade him for 7th since there is no1 there worth kyrie, I just happen to like exum more. But for LA, would u consider rondo, green, and Bradley (maybe sullinger too) for Nash's contract and 7? I thought LA was crazy for resigning Kobe but if they actually want to try that path rondo, Kobe, green, sullinger, and kaman is probably the best "win now" team I can see them putting together. For boston, they can grab 2 players (although id trade back if at all possible) like smart/young and vonleh.

Are the Cavs run by a 12 year old boy looking for his first kiss (yes, I know)?

It seems like keeping Kyrie would be the only slim chance of getting Lebron back. Even if the Cavs get the best player in this draft, if they lose Irving they are likely still a lottery team for the duration of that player's contract and then he will probably leave too. Cavs are in a tough spot because even if Kyrie isn't the ideal candidate to give a max contract to, what player who is worth giving a max deal to is willing to come to Cleveland?

Exum will probably be good - but Kyrie is for sure good and to your point resigning Kobe to that contract would mean they need to surround him with talent now. I can't see them keeping that pick to be honest.

That proposal seems pretty fair - but that amount of salary going back to LA doesn't help them much to continue to acquire talent. That lineup would be fighting for an 8 seed in the west the rest of Kobe's career I think. Boston it makes perfect sense though.

Kyrie is in a similar position as Love where if they plan on trading him before his contract is up then he's going have a lot of say in the discussion of where he goes...because that team needs to be able resign him instead. Kyrie, Kobe and an above average big man could make an impact but that 3rd piece is really still up in the air as who would be available/willing to make one last push with Kobe.

I agree. But I can't see any1 teaming up with Kobe at this point, at least rondo and green r both solid, rondo is a free agent next summer so they could still have a max salary slot if they don't resign him. Kobe's got maybe 2 seasons left and waiting a year would only hurt their (unreasonable) hope that Kobe takes them to another championship. Without that trade who can they reasonably get to play with Kobe the next 3 yrs? Even if they wait out love to la next summer, Kobe and love in the west won't do anything, and I don't know who they could add that would make an impact, especially since Kobe isn't known to be the best the best teammate. I don't like any option for LA at this point but they seem like they will dig a deeper hole before give up on Kobe's last yrs

Also, kyrie is for sure good but might leave, exum might be good but would for sure stay for 4 yrs. plus him and embiid being from other countries, would probably get along and want to stay with each other. Nobody likes rebuilding but I think exum and embiid would be great to watch, increase cavs global market, and end up being some of the best at their positions all while re-opening their window with their franchise players. If they keep kyrie and embiid gets hurt, kyrie is gone, this way they could limit embiids minutes and work on his strength in hopes of having a long career, whereas embiid will have to play great from day 1 and make playoffs so kyrie doesn't bail

I would definitely do that if I were Cleveland. I actually see Orlando saying no to that deal mores than Cleveland.

I could very well see Cleveland shopping Kyrie if a guy they like is available toward the middle/end of the lottery. What if they could trade Kyrie to Sacramento for #8 and Isaiah Thomas/McLemore. Or maybe Kyrie to Denver for Ty Lawson, #11, and one of Denver's bad contracts. Thats a pretty good haul as Lawson is locked up for the next 4 years on a reasonable deal.

I thing the Kyrie era in Cleveland is over. They have a great opportunity to start from scratch with the #1 overall pick, traceable assets up and down the roster, and tons of cap room.

Sam Amico; take it with less than a grain of salt

I completely disagree. That sounds like something Dan Gilbert himself would say......or write in a letter.
