    It's not a terrible idea!

Maybe just 2 years for Gasol (team opt on the 2nd year).

I imagine the Lakers might want Asik along with Lin - both are expiring and their plans of attacking 2015 Free Agency require them to have a roster for this season. Compiling a 'competent' roster gives them leverage to entice any free agent 'look who we have, join them and Kobe'

Having said all that, Gasol will probablyl be attainable by simply wooing him, and having him force S&T (ie, asking the Lakers to send him, and they prefer getting something over nothing - straight up for Lin).
Pick 7 has a pretty good history, someone like Randle or Smart certainly look like 'NBA players' at their positions - but both are probably gone at 7.

Yeah I think that's a horrible idea. Chandler, an overpaid Lin, and an underperforming DMo for Gasol and #7. How would the Lakers ever do this?

So I see your concern. Let me hit a few points to try to convince you.
    1. Lin is overpaid but it is an expiring contract so it's very valuable to the lakers who will head into that offseason trying to get Kevin love when his deal expires (assuming he isn't traded and extended)
    2. I didn't add Asik bc I didn't think the lakers could match that salary plus Lin
    3. Parsons would be the second best player after KObe on that lakers team and gives them a great shot at teamin parsons, Kobe, and love up. Big city, cap room = a resigned parsons
    4. Rumors been coming around that the lakers will trade #7 bc they are in a win now mode. They'll try to trade it to ninny but have zero assets.

Rockets will have to trade their #25 but if we get gasol, here's what I hope our line up will look like

    PG: Marcus smart/bev
    SG: harden/Daniels/Hamilton
    SF: deng/Henry(from LA)/casspi
    PF: gasol/jones
    C: Dwight Howard

Hopefully we can sign deng with MLE

Plus gasol is walking away anyways so they get something out of him and Houston can't sign him outright due to being over the capspace

We are essentially trading the #7 for chandler and lin's expiring contract

This deal can't work because you can't sign and trade a player before July and you have to make your Draft picks in June. So unless you trade the selected players rights it can't work.
That said, Pau for Lin works for both camps.

Aww really? I guess they can agree in principle and the Rockets can make the 7th pick selection and the Lakers can select at 25.

Atlanta in: Omer Asik, Chandler Parsons, Jeremy Lin
Houston in: Paul Millsap, Demarre Carroll, Dennis Schroeder

    Dallas in: Donatas Motiejunas
    Houston in: Jae Crowder

Dallas needs to fill Dejuan Blair's minutes, and might as well get an upside guy with that. They'll likely resign Marion (possibly Carter too) so Jae still won't get minutes. We need wing defense and Crowder can definitely provide that.

    Who says no

    http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=knj5wmp

    Lin, tjones to SA

    Diaw/green/mills to Houston

This is a hypothetical as Diaw and mills are free agents.
But to move Lin it will prob cost us jones. I think lin will do well in Sa because if the system and he could fit into the Parker or Ginobli role.

I think Diaw is a good stretch 4 and mills is a good back up and green will give us a 3-d player.

Spurs don't do that. Mills is better than Lin. and Diaw is better than Jones. And you're asking them to throw in Green too?

I agree to an extent. I think it would be something Sa would do as we know Ginobli is loosing his step. Picking up Lin will give them what the pace they have with Ginobli. If this trade was done at the beginning of the year. Houston would only be getting salary cap relieve. SA needs another. Impact Pf and jones gives that to them.

Jones would not be an impact PF in SA. He'd be in Pops doghouse for his poor defensive decision making and his lack of a jump shot.

That is true. But isn't that the same with splitter??
I don't think tjones is a starting Pf yet and he tends to go off script

Maybe change the trade with dmo?

Same problem without DMo substantially upgrading his jumper.

How much do you think it would cost to get Vazquez? I'm sure the Raptors main focus is getting Lowry so I doubt they'll want to match too much when it comes to Vazquez since Lowry will ask about 12 million.

Trade for Millsap. Salary dump Lin. Sign Vazquez and either a shooter or wing defender. Replace Asik via draft if necessary.

Step 1 - Trade Harden MN for K Love, straight up.
Step 2 - Trade Asik and Lin to NY for C. Anthony
Step 3 - Move C. Parsons to shooting guard.
    Starting Rockets 2014 - 2015
    D. Howard - Center
    K. Love - PF
    C. Anthony - SF
    C. Parsons - SG
    Beverly - PG

Step 4 - finish 44-38, miss playoffs. Love and Howard walk. Franchise ruined. Congrats.

    Fixed Assets:

    P.G - Beverley
    S.G. - Harden
    S.F. -
    P.F. -
    ..C. - Howard

Most Valuable trade Pieces/ Required trade pieces

    - Asik
    - Jones
    - Lin
    - Parsons

    Superfluous filler:

    - Casspi
    - Motiejunas
    - Hamilton
    - Canaan
    - Covington

I think in Morey's mind, Parsons is untouchable but in the right trade scenario, he will be shipped out. I think it is best to avoid any trade that requires anyone other than Howard, Harden, Parsons, Beverley. All else are moveable.
