I'd take a healthy Yao over Dwight too. Healthy for him was hard to come by though.

    Disregard.

Why the hell do people feel the need to tear down one player to prop up the other?

The only longtime Rox fan that does that is Tinman but to be fair, one of the side effects of his Delorean is a need to tear down current players as a means of showing off the cognitive muscles he's built beating off to the man in the Etonics.

Tinman is Lenny Wilkens: you know what way he's going but nobody is going to stop him.

Yao Ming is better than Jeremy Lin at basketball.
    That's just a fact.

Different positions...a center and a back up PG. Why are you even comparing them? Oh wait...I see.

I preferred then, and i think i'd prefer now, us taking the rumored Clippers deal of Odom+their #1 pick. It would have been fun to see a Stevie/Cat/Odom/Amare/Cato lineup under Rudy and then JVG...

Dwight hasn't won anything...so you'd rather have Yao? Because Yao was such a frequent playoff contributor?

Dwight never played with a player as good as McGrady was.

Yao is a little overrated by this board. He was never 1st team all nba. Yao was one of the reasons why we lost to the jazz. He was a defensive liability against Okur and Boozer. He was a good player, but people almost make him sound like hakeem. He was not.

    Dwight Howard:

3-Time NBA Defensive Player of the Year
    8-Time NBA All-Star
    5× All-NBA First Team
    2× All-NBA Third Team
    4× NBA All-Defensive First Team
    NBA All-Defensive Second Team
    NBA All-Rookie First Team
    5× NBA rebounding leader
    2× NBA blocks leader

Dwight Howard won the Eastern Conference Championship over LeBron's Cavs:

Dwight Howard, less worthy of a #1 pick than Yao Ming...

Yao averaged .200 Win Shares/48 for his career.

Dwight has averaged .179 (though he was above .200 several years in Orlando pre-back injury).

    I'll take Yao post-injury Dwight. Pre-injury, it's close.

Too early for this conversation. Yao grew up with this organization and stuck with it for his entire career. It's unfair to compare Dwight to him, because we all love Yao so damn much. Give Dwight a compare more years, then, we can talk objectively.
