So I got to play with GS5 for the weekend, damn it's a phone that could tempt me to leave windows phone. I hate android OS, its not intuitive at all, plus I love the dedicated camera button on the nokias. The screen of the GS5 is amazing, the camera is definitely as good as my 1520, and it seems really fast and fluid. I still think the feel of it is off. Its like they put a million dollar phone in a ten cent case. I won't switch, but if windows phone died out tomorrow I would at least consider not going back to an iPhone...

Im curious, do you put your phone in a case or otterbox? I understand why people put $600 phones in a $5.00 piece of rubber and plastic. I dont understand the obsession with the original phone case when what is inside the phone is more important than the material made out of it.

Nope, I expect the phone to be able to withstand the pounding. What's the point of touting a thin phone when you have to put a monstrosity like otter box on it?

I will say this, give me some Kevlar phone cases any day :D

I hate cases. Why the hell would I spend >$500 on a phone only to put it in a case. I feel like the whole use of a case covers up the inability of the manufacturer to make a solid device. I for one do not support that. I do put screen protectors on phones, but no way in hell would I use a case. I want a phone that feels good on its own.

Phone cases are like condoms, you should probably use one, but it feels so much better with out one.

I use cases for minimal protection from drops. Like I won't use an otterbox or anything that will make it bulky. But I will buy a ringke slim fitting case that adds little to no bull and it does the job.

What was your last Android phone and which version of software did it have? If it was before Jellybean, your prior experience is worthless.

    I had an S2 for a few months, a nexus s, and nexus 7.

Edit: I also had a lumia 920, and the lumia T-mobile originally had before settling on the iPhone 4S which has been my daily driver over the last two years.

If you didn't like the Nexus 7, Android probably isn't for you. My wife is about as computer/phone illiterate as one can be. From the moment I gave her a Nexus 7, you can't pry it out of her hands.

Same thing with the iPhone 5S.

Wouldn't you say a manufacture making a phone water proof is pretty significant? Considering one of the leading claims is water damage.

Definitely waiting for the annoucment. I'm afraid the display is going to take a chunk out of that battery life and the cist if the phone hinders it a but compared to the OnePlus but then again getting your hands on a phone is better than no phone at all.

Also if they can take advantage of the snapdragons listening core and make it similar to the motox it might be a game changer for me.

I'm still waiting for the oneplus one. I'm hoping to get an invite within the next week or so. I'm pumped for it.

Initial reviews show a few software issues on the unfinished version of Cyanogen 11s that comes with the phone. Also, some reviewers say the camera is just average, while others say it is one of the best. We shall see.

I'll post my thoughts here when I get it.

I've always thought of you as one of the smartest and the most handsome poster on this board.

Can you help forward me an invite?

I've owned a Nokia E7. Holy **** was that phone the slipperiest mother****er on earth. Trying to flick the keyboard up, the phone would slip out of my hands numerous times. I think that phone would have benefited from a $5 TPU case so I could actually grip it without it slipping out of my hand like a wet bar of soap.

I sold that phone and got me a plastic shell N900 instead. #noragrats

I am. It's the only reason I haven't upgraded my S2 to an S5. I'm going to check the phone out and probably wait for reviews if I like what I see before making a decision, but for now it looks like it's between the S5 and the G3. Nothing else really fits the bill for me.

Do yourself a favor, get to your nearest Best Buy and try out the HTC One before making your decision. I used to be like you, looking to upgrade from an S2 to the S4. Then I found the HTC One. Over a year later I am still so proud of myself for making that decision. My love for this phone does not diminish.
