Cleveland didn't exactly let Lebron leave.

Point Guard is the deepest position there is a reason why so many of the top point guards so called can't defend.

Even the point guards who are known for defense get lit up from time to time. So maybe focusing on defense for point guards is overrated.

If you put Teague in Cleveland they wouldn't make the playoffs either so what is your point?

Too much too soon? Isn't that what they said about LeBron as well?

irving can be a stud in late game situations but doesn't appear able to work with the rest of his team. i wouldn't take the risk to see if he can play with another star.

kyrie only has 12 double-doubles in 3 years. he's just not that good of a passer and he's overrated as a scorer not to mention his terrible defense.

he's flashy but doesn't have much substance. he doesn't contribute much to winning (then again he IS on the cavs). he's still young and has room to go but i can understand why the cavs don't feel he's worth the max.

that's how players who get overpaid get those  looks when people wonder why they make so much money for their production years later *cough*joejohnson*cough*

Well of course, every player will get lit up from time to time.

But how is defense for point guards overrated? I think running the offense through a shoot first point guard is overrated. I would much rather prefer a great defender at the position like Bledsoe, Rondo, or Lowry over Lillard, Irving, or Wall.

you could make the same case that running the offense through a pass first point guard is just as overrated.

It's overrated because most of the top point guards are called bad defenders but yet people keep bringing it up with Kyrie.

Their are a whole bunch of terrible defensive point guards. Derrick Rose was called a terrible defender yet the Bulls were a great defensive team. The most important thing defensively is help behind the guys on the perimeter.

I think any point guard who buys into the Bulls defensive schemes can learn to be a good defender, Augustin was pretty good for them this year, and Hinrich too has done a pretty good job for a guy who is athletically limited.

But keep in mind, four teams left in the playoffs are all great perimeter defensive teams.

Do you think remaining point guards are good defenders?

THANK YOU!!! I didnt even consider the fact that he plays in the East at first, but if since drafting Kyrie they have stayed at the bottom of the league. Why reward someone who hasnt made the team better. Selling tickets is one thing but progress is another.

Kyrie doesn't deserve the max- but you know somebody is willing to pay it, so Cavs don't have much of a choice.

When did that happen, he was a 4th option at best, before this year. Even this year, he was injured for stretches.

Irving -- Horford, JJ, and Smith or the new squad with Horford, Milsap, and Korver with Budenholzer. You don't think Irving would've made the playoffs with veteran and quality players, instead of a stockyard of failed draft picks and bad coaches.

So would y'all trade kyrie to Orlando for 4th pick and go with embiid and exum? I like those 2 being on rookie scale contracts with potential to be a dynamic 1-5 combination to rebuild around plus u would be able to attract another max contract player and use your bird rights on those 2 to go over the cap if u have to. They would still have 2 PF's, waiters, zeller, and jack plus in the second round they could add any 1 of: thannis, kj mcdaniels, Tavares too. I imagine Orlando would turn it down since they may as well add an intriguing talent while they rebuild but cavs could add a couple more pieces

    None. That was the point.

Teague was atlanta's 2nd best player this year. Horford was out for most of the year. Take out Al Jefferson, Millsap and Irving from their respective teams and the rosters are comparable. If it were the west, irving would have a valid excse but not the east. Kyrie is beginning to look like Marbury 2.0.

    I would do that.
