How the hell did he find out? This freak really has no shame.

It truly is all republicans have left; keep people mad, keep people scared. No ideas

Ted Cruz drops bombshell: Senate Democrats to ‘repeal the First Amendment’ this year

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) drew audible gasps Thursday when he told gathering of Christian conservatives that Democrats intended to amend the Constitution to limit free speech.

“When you think it can’t get any worse, it does,” Cruz warned at the Watchmen on the Wall gathering of pastors sponsored by the Family Research Council.

“This year, I’m sorry to tell you, the United States Senate is going to be voting on a constitutional amendment to repeal the First Amendment,” Cruz said, to the audible shock of the crowd.

The Tea Party-backed senator said Senate Democrats intend to vote this year on Senate Joint Resolution 19, which would effectively undo the unpopular U.S. Supreme Court decisions on campaign financing in the Citizens United and McCutcheon cases.

    This is pretty sad.

Honestly who feels the constitution is under attack? When was the last time your religion was attacked?

The people who think their religion or guns are being taken only feel that way because they actively seek out to be attacked.

    Cowbell is a nice touch!

see the NSA spying on Americans phone calls with generalized warrants (4th Amendment)

see the IRS asking groups the books they are reading and the content of their prayers (1st Amendment)

see nuns and catholic hostpitals being forced to pay for abortions/birth control in violation of their religious beliefs (1st Amendment)

as for the 2nd Amendment, Obama would happily impose a handgun ban if he thought it was politically tenable

yeah, that is a sad list of hyperbole, strawmen and speculation to base a crisis on.

And for the non-chemtrails crowd - this "repeal of the First amendment" consists of a religious employer, voluntarily participating in a federal regulatory regime, being required to declare that they actually want to be exempt from "being forced to pay for abortions" (which actually means, offering employees their choice of health insurance that covers contraception)- basically, they have to fill out another form.

I am sure the liberals would be more than happy about over turning the Patriot Act.

When is the propaganda machine going to start crying about a real scandal that EVERYONE should be mad about?

And lets not forget which administration enacted the Patriot Act in the first place (W Bush)

So 1 you can't prove. 2 asking content of your prayers is not denying you from praying however you please. 3 was broken down by another poster and 4 is just a false anecdote, based on nothing to prove your point. Well done sir.

The hypocricy of Ted Cruz is unreal... (Not that all politicians aren't hypocrits, but he takes so much pride in it and almost convinces himself of what he is saying at times). Basically, the guy is a well polished tea party member who has evolved from the predecessors of his party who couldn't present themselves to the American public without looking outright outrageous. I remember he came to my school this past year for a speech and gave a speech outlining how unconstitutional all of Obama's excecutive orders and that the Republican party would NEVER betray the American public's trust like that.... Does anyone remember during the Presidential debates, when Paul Ryan stated that the Republican platform was making sure that the first act of the next president would be to use excecutive order to repeal Obama Care? Hmmm....

I saw him explain why he did this on tv and it was laughable.

    I really can't stand Teddy.

It speaks really poorly to the state of the Republican party when you have to renounce your citizenship somewhere to be a viable candidate.

Do we really know for sure that Cruz isn't a Cuban secret agent?

I'm actually surprised the winger bloodhounds who sniffed out our Kenyan born president aren't hot on the trails of the next Manchurian Candidate.

Just because he can't be president, doesn't mean he can't do some serious damage.
