I can't tell if the spurs are in their prime or if the window is closing

Their window is closing but Pops knows how to get the best out of his players without running them into the ground.

Aside from Kawhi Leonard none of the Spurs have elite athleticism at any position. They are the epitome of maximizing their players.

I think this is their last year. If they win the chip, they're going to retire IMO. Everyone but Parker, so Pop, Duncan, and Manu.

I never been a Spurs fan, but I hope they win this year and ride off into the sunset. I'd rather see them win this year than Miami or OKC.

I can't imagine Duncan and Pop retiring if they win it all. The one thing they've failed to do together is defend a championship.

Steve Kerr said it best last game by comparing the offense the current spurs team runs vs. the one he won a championship with.

Poetry in motion vs dump it down to Duncan + Admiral

They are playing a totally different brand of basketball and until the league figures them out, they will continue to be at the top.

It's pretty crazy how Pop changed his championship system into a whole new championship system effortlessly.

Unless Tim Duncan blows out his knee, the Spurs will keep chugging along. And once Pop decides to retire, the Spurs will get back to the rest of the pack. It truly is the best example where the management, coaching and players work cohesively as one unit for the best possible outcome: championships. So every year we write them off, we have to visually see the following: Duncan retiring/injury, Popovich retiring, RC Buford moves on from the Spurs.

They are peaking because they have all the right pieces and they're playing well together.

But their window is closing because Duncan and Ginobili don't have many years left.

The early championships their best player was Tim Duncan, they molded the team and system around him

Now, Tony Parker is their best player and they are doing the same

also, really solid value players , not overpaid bench players like the Rockets

    Leonard, Danny Green, Patty Mills

    I want Miami to win

LeBron asked Hakeem for help in the post, so LeBron has embraced Clutch City

Also the Spurs fans are hating on Charles for honestly telling like it is about their city

Forgot Marco Belinelli, who has had his best season statistically with the Spurs. Its the system and not its players. You can have great players, but without the right system in place, they look like "chickens with their head cutoff" - Mchale

I'm praying they win this year because then Pop and Duncan might finally retire...

Or they'll just go on to be the best team for 5 more years. Either one...

Yeah but there's more to basketball than athleticism. There's probably no player in the NBA as creative and fluid as Manu Ginobili and yet because he plays for the Spurs he's considered a fundamental player.

It's not totally the players IMO but the system Pops run. Lots of players who came out from that system didn't perform well in other systems. These Rockets players may perform well in Pop's system which is totally different from what McHale run for the Rockets.

Just as they replaced Robinson, Pops, through their excellent drafting system will be able to do something. They've got some new interesting selfless players that thrives in Pop's system so I expect them to just slow down a little bit but fully recover the next season after that.

lol ginobli more than not, hurt the team nowadays and duncan doesnt have that big of a role anymore to where he's needed for spurs to win. it's a team effort and the movement of the players to get the best shot possible

At this point I hope they just win the damn title and then Duncan retires so they can finally go away. But knowing Pop, they will still probably win 50 games without Duncan.
