I hope Boston get Kevin Love
+The most logical offer: Both 2014 picks, both 2015 picks, Sullinger, Bogans and Bass’s expiring for Love. That’s four first-rounders (including the no. 6 pick). If they pulled it off, they’d have to move quickly on Houston’s Asik, even if it meant taking Jeremy Lin’s contract as the price for Asik — conceivably, they could absorb Asik with the aforementioned trade exception and absorb Lin’s deal with their cap space — which helps Houston because they need to dump the Lin/Asik contracts to pursue Carmelo. You tell me: Could you compete in the East with a starting five of Love, Rajon Rondo, Asik, Jeff Green and Free Agent 2-Guard TBA? And could you make the Finals with a Big Three of James Harden, Dwight Howard and Carmelo Anthony? YES AND YES! Let’s do this!

Thompson's defense has steadily improved to where it isn't bad. He can still be foot slow at times but he is attentive and positioned well... How much of that translates on another team.

Interesting tidbit about potential offers from BS. I just can't see anyone trumping Cleveland if they want him. Boston is second in line. We are somewhere after those two with our potential offers.

Also DocRocket tweeted something, I'm not sure if it has any meaning.

The teams with high picks have an advantage from an assets point of view. But they also tend to suck and have a disadvantage from a "having Love stay" point of view, especially if they are located in a city like Cleveland. You can pull the trigger anyway and a guy like Morey would take the chance. But not all owners and front offices tolerate such risks, and not all of them are in circumstances where they can afford to gamble.

Think about it, if MIL or CLE or even LAL traded their pick for Love, only to lose him in a year, and then Wiggins or Embiid or Parker or Exum turned out to be great, imagine the crap they'd take from fans, media, sponsors, etc. Is a GM willing to make a gamble that could have him viewed as an idiot for a long time?

It's Cleveland. In their position I take A top three pick (in this draft) over Love 10/10. They are not patient though as evidenced by their trades for Spencer Hawes and Deng. Trading for Love is a love letter to LeBron begging to rekindle their old flame. It could pay off and be the best move in Cavaliers history or it could come back to haunt the city for eternity. I just can't see LeBron leaving Miami to go play with Irving and Embiid. I could see him possibly going back home as a hero and playing with two other stars.

I'm not sure how that changes the fact that Minnesota would not exactly need to give up Kevin Love to obtain that kind of production. What's the difference between paying big money for Klay Thompson vs. someone like Gordon Heyward or Jeff Green?

I think the Simmons article is spot on, Parsons wouldn't stay in Minnesota, trading him to LA for # 7 makes sense if that pick plus Jones and maybe picks acquired from someone by dumping Asik would be enough for Love.

    So from Minny's POV: Lin, Jones, #7, #16, # 25 for Love.

From Houston POV: Lin, Asik, Jones, and Parsons for Love.

The issue with any of the Parsons for pick for Love deal is this:

Why doesn't the team with the pick just trade it for Love?

Cleveland won't offer much because Love will not ever resign there.

Because Love won't resign with the team that has the high pick?

I would tend to agree but players are allowed to talk to each other. I'm sure he and Kyrie have a pretty tight relationship and therefore the management of the Cavs would have a sense of whether he may be wiling to sign long term.

Lakers at # 7 have nothing else to offer for Love but they might like Parsons instead of prospects.

Quite frankly, if it's required to give up Parsons to get Love and not required to get Melo because of his FA status, I'd rather get Melo and keep Parsons. Of course, this is assuming there's no chance the Lakers give up that #7 pick for him. Which I don't believe they will.

Here's the thing about the Lakers:

If they don't think Love will stay because they can't win but Parsons will because of the Hollywood factor and because of money, then is Parsons the kind of player you really want spending money on?

As much as it sickens me to say it Parsons does seem like a good fit in Lalaland. If the Lakers were smart they could bring in several star free agents next year and go over the cap to resign Parsons. Something tells me he would play along and resign.

    Per Chad Ford:

    Earl (Durham, NC)
First Hornets question please tell me they keep both picks and get 2 shooters

    Chad Ford (1:30 PM)
Sounds like they are shopping this pick as well. They shouldn't. This is a nice way for them to add some young talent and I agree -- shooters would be great. Doug McDermott is an obvious fit. Nik Stauskas, Gary Harris, James Young, Rodney Hood, PJ Hairston. This is an area the team really needs help with and there are some really good options in this draft.

Sounds like a possible destination for Parsons. They have the 9th and 24th picks. They might be decent facilitator team if HOU wants go with the Parsons for pick route to package for Love.

First, they are in a small market and need to worry about Love leaving. Second, the Love-Jefferson pairing didn't work out so good the first time around. Third, they could really use a decent SF, especially one who can shoot. Fourth, they might even be a good destination for Omer Asik (in exchange for additional asset plus salary), who can cover for Jefferson defensively.

I don't really buy the location thing for Parsons. The Hollywood stuff is a side gig and modeling money isn't as good as NBA money. Dude hasn't made any real NBA money so he's not gonna turn down a big money deal if the home team offers it.

Parsons really affect their 2016 cap room though. That's the year when Durant becomes available and Kobe's off the books. He gets paid 1 year too early for LA's taste.

I can't see the Lakers waiting that long. With the FA bonanza in 2015 and all that capspace I just can't see them signing a bunch of stopgaps to one year deals in Kobe's final season.

That would be three years of sucking in a row waiting for a chance to sign Durant?

    Just can't see it.
