If Green gets it going... we have a chance.

I think Donovan is heavily over rated as a player. Top 23 player for the US? Sure, but I don't think he's such a "lock" as a top player.

Honestly, US isn't getting out of the group stage, I like the youth being injected to build for the future. I hope Green gets some time off the bench and I would start Aron Johannsson, that's the only hope for the US in my mind.

I am now convinced that Klinnsman is not worried about this WC, by leaving Donovan off he is basically conceding that it is about the NEXT world cup and getting experience for the younger players.

On any given day Landon is the best player on the team - still.

Donovan won't be missed. At least the Donovan from the last 2 years. He's checked out of the game.

Yeah.. no... Sorry but the guy isn't fit to be one of the 23. We need youth and leadership. The guy is too cocky. He didn't deserve a spot on the team and hasn't played well enough to clearly deserve it. Let Klinnsman do the Mourinho dance and have everyone hate him... It's about winning and let's see his genius work.

The lineup that I would like to see (that's still in the realm of what Jurgen would pick). That's not a bad lineup.

    Altidore - Johannsson
    Dempsey - Bradley - Jones - Zusi
    Johnson - Besler - Cameron - Chandler
    Howard

So it came down to Landon/Wondo/Boyd for the last Forward spot, and it looks like Jurgen went with Wondo. I hope he can be a late sub and poach a goal late, that's pretty much his only value to the team.

IMO, Landon gives you more options coming off the bench than Wondolowski does.

Super happy for Davis and Cameron (and Wondo) though as Dynamo guys who made the USMNT!!

I'm going to be IMPARTIAL here with you, DaDa:

Maybe in practice or during the camp, Klinsmann had to make that harsh decision because he saw the potential in someone else and reward them for their hard work.
Maybe he didn't see the same in Donovan.
Maybe the hours and hours of tape this MLS season and in the exhibition and qualifiers where Donovan participated didn't get the coaches' eyes.

I think that had a lot more to do with what you're saying. Maybe he ISN'T the best on the pitch and someone else is.

Think about the future, not the past.

Somebody rep this guy for me. The GREATEST player in American history and you can't find a spot for this guy???? "F" Klinswoman, what a totally BS call. This would have been his last World Cup, I cannot believe they didn't at the very least give this guy a ceremonial place on the team.

Maybe he can come back NEXT time. There have been plenty of players who didn't go after being at their peak, then returned and did well. I've seen it with many Mexicans.

Donovan was amazing last year in the gold cup - he still has it, and is still the best player in the US on any given day.

Wondo - really, WONDO? He is decent but Donovan and Dempsey and Bradley give you that beautiful triangle game you need to set up players like Wondo.

Maybe Donovan gets on as a late addition?

I'm all for choosing Green over Donavon, Landon hasn't been playing all that well. It'll be a good experience for Green.

But let's be realistic here for a second. In these games, how many players are gonna find any playing time?? More than likely, Klinnsman will have his starting 11, and I'd say a good 6 or 7 players will rotate within that lineup or come in as a substitute. Making for a total of 18 players within a solid rotation, and 5 only being used as an emergency (2 of those being goalies). I really can't see why you can make Landon Donavon the 23rd player, if only for his experience in World Cups and leadership.

But hey, ze German probably knows what he's doing.

No problem leaving him off, he's and aging star who was no longer in form, those types are left off all the time. Plus it seems like he just wasn't a fit on the team, he wasn't giving the team everything he has so no big deal if he is let go. I'm sure he knows that as well as the fans

Michael Bradley is the best player on the team by far
    IMO.

You need Dempsey and Altidore to play there best to have a chance.

I wish Stuart Holden was not constantly injured; he is sorely needed at midfielder. I would rather not take a chance with Green this cycle; he is 18 years old and has no experience.

Finally! Donovan is gone. Now we can win this whole thing. He was the one thing holding this team back for years. I respect Klinsman for the decision. Donovan was a good player. One of our best, but frankly, no chemistry there. This was the best moves we've made in a long time and I believe now we can step forward.

I believe you are forgetting someone who is even better than Bradley.
