A potential Love/Lakers trade would have to occur after the draft. The Lakers have traded their first round pick two years in a row, the CBA says you can't do it a third without getting a first round pick in return. If they did a trade after the draft, they wouldn't have to get a first rounder in return. Unless Love forces his way to LAL, then a Lakers trade is highly unlikely.
What if the deal was Love / KMart for Harden / Asik? Howard Love CP25 KMart Bev Or Howard TJones CP25 Harden Bev Which line-up would be better?
If GSW don't add Klay Thompson I don't think their deal is getting done. They're saying they won't include him, but to get Minnesota to shove the horse-pill-up-the-butt-contract of David Lee, they might have to. Harrison Barnes is better than he showed last year but he'd just add to the Minnesota stable of small forwards. Agree with you on Boston. They have #6 and #17 and one-year deals to make it work. Oh, God, don't go there. Putting Harden into these scenarios gets you labeled here as idiotic, stoned, etc. Me? Since it's just the Internet anyway... Sure, I'd trade Harden. But to Philadelphia or Cleveland for the high-lottery pick(s). Flip'em for Love. Use the cap space for another solid player. Buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut, since it won't happen, I guess the idea of this thread is, "Will Parsons + Asik + Whomever + Whatever + a Chick Fil-A Value Meal to some third team net a lottery pick high enough to get Minnesota to bite....considering the three little pigs of Cleveland (#1), Boston (6/#170 and L.A. (#7) are already knocking at the Wolves' door?"
Teams draft players from other teams all the time. See Battier for Rudy Gay. http://www.nba.com/rockets/news/Rockets_acquire_Battier_in_tra-184447-822.html If those two teams are getting hot & heavy the hours leading up to the draft, LA will get confirmation pretty firmly about Minnesota's desired selection.
-- The poll in that thread is public. So, we can go check who actually voted which way on the question and which people are "Lin Only Fans" or "True Rockets Fans" or in whatever category. I didn't do a full count, but do recognize that number of people who voted "yes" and replied to the thread are long-time members here who have definitely been fans far before Lin's arrival. -- I can respect that there are legitimate reasons for not doing it, but there are also reasons in favor of it as a number of us have outlined. Primarily, my personal opinion is that Kevin Love is such a special player even compared to Harden (who is very good himself) that it outweighs the other factors and you gotta take a chance-- but only if this is what is required to get the deal done and you can't make it happen with a lesser package. -- I recognized that a decision like this is far from a "no brainer." However, many trades are not "no brainers" and are instead such that there are reasons for one or both teams to hesitate about pulling the trigger or at least exhaust all alternatives before pulling the trigger. It depends on the market conditions, leverage, and what not, but often teams do have to give a lot in order to get back a significant gain. Sometimes, teams get criticized, too, after they get the deal done. How many years did we argue over Gay for Battier here? And Knicks fans spent quite a bit of time complaining about how stupid Dolan caved in and overpaid for Melo when Denver and George Karl, Gallinari & co. were winning more games than the Knicks did.
I like the first one better TBH. The diff between Harden and KMart isn't as big as the diff between Love and Jones. Plus KMart doesn't need the ball in his hands. And if we can't get a PG upgrade, we can even start Lin in this lineup.
Unfortunately for the Rockets, if they trade Harden, you absolutely cannot trade Lin at that point. You need someone within their offense to be a lead attacking guard. I can't exactly tell you whose better than the other cause you really have no way to tell, but I will tell you this, if you take Harden out of the lineup, you better be willing to live with Jeremy Lin or a lesser player being given a ton of responsibility on the perimeter to create & facilitate the offense. People love to dog on Harden, but at the same token people dont realize how much responsibility within their offense he really has. If you are going to change your lineup to that proposed change, I think you'd have to look very seriously at completely altering the style of play to be much more of a half court oriented team with less P&R, and more set plays.
Stop proposing deals involving Harden! Or you will receive post's describing you as dumb, idiot, stupid, ignorant,LOF etc. No one wants to hear an opinion! Just say yes, smile, and say yes again! Repeat for good measure!... ....... ....... .......
I don' know, the combination of Love, CP25, KMart and Bev would be a hell of a 3pt shooting upgrade around Howard from what he had this season. It would be intriguing for sure. How the Rockets address losing Asik would be huge but at least there is zero drop off in the rebounding department.
Fortunately for the Rockets, they are not going to trade Harden for Love. Of course, Lin fans want to trade Harden and keep Lin, but I am almost sure that Morey will not trade Harden for Love. You do not break a team just based on one playoff run.
Since trading Harden was already thrown out there, why don't we discuss trading Dwight for Love? PG - Beverley SG - Harden SF - Parsons PF - Love C - Asik Maybe we could squeeze Corey Brewer to be part of the deal as well while we're at it?
By the way, i would only consider trading Dwight or Harden for 2 players in this league. If it's not for LeBron or Durant, forget it. I'm sticking with these two and try to find a 3rd star or surround them with better pieces.
There was once a time when things like this could go without saying. It was just an understood reality. That time has passed.
