When the US wins the WC, and I believe they will in my lifetime, the world will mourn. Soccer will never be THE sport here like it is everywhere else in the world.
There's no way 'soccer' won't be a top 3 sport in the U.S. if they are in a position to win a World Cup. Like say they are expected to get to the final. That means they have some of the best talent in the world and if that's the case then there will have been a shift in the direction our the countries sporting culture. If the best athletes in the U.S. Shift they're eyes to soccer then people will fall in love with the sport.
Interesting... <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p>Kilnsmann on Cameron: "I've said for three years, I think his best position is center back."</p>— Grant Wahl (@GrantWahl) <a href="https://twitter.com/GrantWahl/statuses/469152169220767744">May 21, 2014</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script> Does that portend a starting back line of Fabian Johnson - Matt Besler - Geoff Cameron - DeMarcus Beasley? Still would like to see Cameron play either RB where he does for Stoke City or with Bradley in the midfield.
I agree that Cameron's best position is CB. The question is if that is the position where he can best help the team. If Chandler is not an option then I think we need Cameron on the right. I agree with you that Cameron in the midfield is good but I think Klinsmann still thinks Jones and probably Beckerman are better options in the midfield. I could see Cameron taking Gonzalez's spot though. He hasn't played in almost a month and didn't look great in his last game with the US.
Chandler does offer a ton of potential, but I think he'll have to really show well in this camp and in the friendlies to unseat Beasley. He's coming off of a good year (and a knee injury) at Nürnberg. Lots of options at RB, I just hope they get solid play from whomever is selected to start. Good read on Chandler and his up and down USMNT career (link). Also, just a reminder, tonight is the 2nd episode of Inside: U.S. Soccer's March to Brazil (ESPN). <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p>Set your DVR: Episode 2 of Inside: <a href="https://twitter.com/ussoccer">@ussoccer</a>'s March to Brazil airs at 10 PM ET tonight (baseball permitting) on ESPN <a href="https://twitter.com/30for30">@30for30</a></p>— roger bennett (@rogbennett) <a href="https://twitter.com/rogbennett/statuses/469089598983794688">May 21, 2014</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
Luis Suarez with a torn MCL, will likely miss the group stage and possibly the whole tournament. Can't remember a WC with so many injured stars, disappointing for everyone involved.
Much better WC song/video than Pitbull's <iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/7-7knsP2n5w" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Reports I read said he will be out 2-3 weeks.. First game for Uruguay is vs Costa Rica on June 14 then against England on June 19. I can see him sitting out the Costa Rica game and coming back for England. Uruguayans are known for their courage/relentlessness, la garra charrua. Holy crap! No Landon Donavon for the World Cup! Julian Green is in though! Wow, didn't see that coming.
That's terrible. Was looking forward to seeing Falcao's Colombia and Uruguay this WC. I know France's Mandanda is injured as well. Who else is injured?
That's pretty shocking. He hasn't been in great form but I think he's a player that would turn it up when the time came. And I don't think Green, Yedlin, or Brooks are ready for this stage yet.

Great move. We need our guys to play together and not be one above the other. Great experience ahead for a group of guys who prob won't get out of group stage.
