Way overrated. And definitely not this year.

CP3 has to conserve himself energy wise. He also is a little too small and gets a little abused. He doesn't quite have the quickness of Conley anymore. CP3 has the best hands in basketball too.

I would say Rubio and Conley are the two best defensive PGs.

Rondo is very quick and has a 6-10 wingspan. That's what makes him very good defensively. Coming back from injury, he clearly didn't have the same defensive impact. The defensive awareness and wingspan still work in his favor however. To say he is anything less than a plus defender is questionable. To say he is overrated defensively when he contributed to 5 defensive win shares 4 years in a row is laughable considering Gary Payton never came close to doing that. Someone who is known as one of the greatest defensive point guards of all time.

As far as his offensive efficiency is concerned, his shooting percentage took a small hit, but not as much as some here are led to believe. The anomaly in Rondo's game this year is that he attempted 3 threes per game. For most of his career that figure was less than one. (I'm assuming his added role of contributing to the scoring load last year due to the lackluster team he was a part of had something to do with this.)

He shot a respectable 44% from the field, which again is a dip for him but not the .403 people see when they look at his base stats. He did manage to average nearly 10 assists per game, surrounded by mediocre talent. On a team loaded with shooters and Dwight Howard, he is the floor general I need even if he's not 100% on the other side of the ball. He is still respectable defensively and with this cast he can go back to what he does best, passing the ball.

I thought we were talking about this year. Rondo just wasn't that good this year coming back from an ACL tear. His defense was very out of touch. His assist numbers will always be very inflated considering how much he likes the ball in his hands.

Generally, I like his defense a lot. He does gamble a little too much and fall asleep off the ball but generally is fantastic. I wouldn't quite put him in Gary Payton's class and I think defensive win shares are a very flawed statistic.

By the way VBG, I never meant any of this to insult you. It seemed you may have taken something I said wrong a few pages back. I think you are one of the most knowledgable posters on this entire board to be honest.

Nothing as long as you pull off a trade before a deadline after everyone drafts. Otherwise your team is DQ'd

    Pg - Goran Dragic
    Sg - Wesley Matthews
    Sf - Jimmy Butler
    Pf - Blake Griffin
    C - Tyson Chandler

Bench: Reggie Jackson & Greek Freak.

I'm a big fan of Goran Dragic. He has the skills to make him one of the top guards in the league, he comes up big in the clutch & showed his leadership qualities this season in almost leading the Suns to an improbable playoff spot. He hits the 3, gets to the basket & plays solid D.

Wes loses points for being part of the Trail Blazettes...

Ok, just kidding. Wes is an excellent 3 & D player. He gets in his man's face on the defensive end, & rarely takes plays off on that end. He put up just over 16 points per game this season & hit just under 40% from 3 point range...making an average of 2.5 3's per game this season.

Very strong backcourt...now the small forward position.

I like Jimmy Butler. He is a Houston kid & has a great story. He played awesome basketball a few seasons ago, but this season was a very bad one shooting wise. It seems he has lost his shot! His saving grace is his defence is on another level. He is a lock down defender and gives it his all on both ends of the court, he just wasn't getting his shots to fall this season, especially from 3, where he was just 28%...while shooting under 40% from the field.

Blake Griffin has elevated his game to another level this season. He has added some post moves and some range on his jumper. He is super efficient, runs the break and finishes better than nearly everyone in the league...Dragic lobs to Griffin!!!

His drawback is that he doesn't block that many shots & can get into foul trouble...I'll take that any day for a player of Blake's caliber.

Tyson Chandler is a great fit next to Griffin. He grabs the boards to start the break as Blake leaks out, & he can also block shots, helping out down low.
Tyson's numbers this year took a dip, but he is still a legit double double guy.

I like the Reggie Jackson & Greek Freak bench additions...I could see Dragic moving to SG, Reggie at the PG, with Greek Freak & Griffin running the floor on fast breaks.

I like the team, but don't love it. I can see a few long scoring droughts if Dragic & Griffin aren't totally on, and Wes isn't hitting from downtown...but in saying that, the team is solid, if not spectacular on D and has enough weapons to do some damage.

    Needs: 3 & D guy, Back up big...stretch 4/5.

    Offence: B+
    Defence: A
    Chemistry: B
    Inside scoring: B+
    Outside Scoring: B
    Inside defence: A-
    Perimeter Defence: A+

    Overall: solid B

Fun! I think you guys should just disallow going over cap to be safe. Going over cap when there's amnesty is one thing, it even makes it more fun. But if you are going to DQ people..

Well, I guess there's some fun in that too!

I think Avery Bradley is the best defender at point guard. Of course, he doesn't have point guard's offensive skills. He's a black hole. But no one defends point guards better, IMO.

Rubio, Lowry, Conley, Beverley, Holiday. I think Conley hasn't been as great this year as last year, but he's somewhere is that top tier.
