Who knows? But there will be numerous Gabberts, Lockers, Ponders, Bridgewaters, Manziels, and Tebows before the next Luck if I had to guess.

Someday, when somebody in that war room loses their job, I think there's a good chance it will come out that the Texans were caught off guard by the Vikings. Also, like everybody else, they didn't expect the Jags to take Bortles at 3.

I think it's more likely that they come out and say that the Texans wouldn't have taken Bridgewater even if the Vikings hadn't drafted him at 32. Also, even if they didn't expect Bortles to be taken 3rd, they didn't expect him to be available because he was considered the best QB prospect in the class.

Clearly I am referring to next year's draft if you continue reading. There are better prospects.

If we want to draft a QB next year there is nothing stopping us from doing so. Sure we probably won't be in the top 10 drafting next year, but if we really wanted one of them, it wouldn't stop us. Teams seem to be learning their lesson and fewer and fewer are reaching on QB's early.

If the Texans wanted Teddy or Johnny _ they could have moved up and got one of them. I honestly believe O'Brien wanted Savage over those two. And Blake was going to be drafted somewhere in the top 10. If the Texans wanted him they would have had to take him with the #1 pick.

Defensive ends/pass rushers bust more than any other position but teams haven't learned their lesson about reaching for them.

Who was the last reach at the DE position?

Barr this year as an OLB?

I don't know. Just don't think it's fair to consider drafting a QB a "reach" when other positions selected in the 1st round bust and or don't live up to their draft selection just as much if not more than QB's drafted in the 1st round and it hurts the team just as much.

We only use the word "reach" because we believe there are other players on the board who are better, but truthfully we can't see around the corner.

But I think Barr was a "reach" pick though. Just my opinion.

"Reaching" for DEs doesn't cripple you for half a decade.

We go 500 and if I had to take the over-under, I'd say over. Easy schedule, good draft, competent head coach that game plans to exploit opponents' weaknesses.

Aaron Curry is another one. Don't know if he was a reach but he sure was a bust.

Gus Bradley was in Seattle when they drafted Curry and they drafted Laurence Jackson in the 1st round the year before that. Guess he learned his lesson which is probably why he passed up on Mack.

IMO a.500 season will be very solid for us. If we can get above average qb play, we have a chance at the playoffs, but that is highly unlikely
