The idea that a liberal or conservative scientist would let political leanings is kind of insulting. Guess what? People can have a political belief and still do their job.

Quoting a NY Times story about government-funded climate work is obviously going to lead to an alarmist piece about how the earth is seconds away from falling off of its axis. Government funded -- i.e. pre-determined outcome of the study. This government doesn't fund anything that produces anything but their desired outcome. Which is why this has become a political, not scientific, movement. This can't be a scientific movement since the IPCC models have all been proven wrong, the hysterical climate predictions have all been proven false, and the temperature hasn't risen in 17 years. In addition, this can't be a scientific movement because dissent is not welcomed -- it's suppressed. How can anyone subscribe to this global warming theory at this point? What shred of integrity does this corrupt movement still have?

There is the quote from Lord Cameron of Dillington that any country is only 9 meals from anarchy. I saw the modern city of Houston devolve into chaos in less than that with just the threat of Hurricane Rita on the heels of New Orleans destruction from Hurricane Katrina. Climate Change will be a slow motion disaster like boiling a frog slowly. If the effects were more clearly perceivable, like boiling hot water, people would be jumping out of the pot. We are short-sighted and creature comfort oriented as usual.

I feel really sorry for you. You don't understand what has happened in regard to the studies, and have blinded yourself to ever finding out. The govt. hasn't paid more than 90% of the scientific experts to say that climate change is man made and real. I'd like you to explain how that's even possible. Some models have been proven wrong, because the results are more dire and actually happening faster than the models showed. In other words, it's actually worse than what the scientific models predicted. The evidence provided is real and verifiable. If scientists were going to sell out, it would be to the big oil companies which pay a lot more money than any govt. funded research. So if you are saying that scientists are selling their results you better go back and look at which side they'd sell to. What a sad thing that some people refuse to look at facts, and choose their own non-fact based reality. The ideas you hold about global warming have already been PROVEN false.
This x100. Love what you pointed out about WHO they would actually sell out to when given a choice. And yes, the IPPC models have been proven false because we have already gone over the previous reports' findings, meaning that we are accelerating the process faster than we even thought before. I read in one of the more recent reports that if we don't decrease carbon emissions by 80% in the following decades, then we are in imminent climate disaster. The decrease in emissions wouldn't even stop the process, it would simply slow it down.
I read that it's already too late and we're doomed.....so why keep debating it? If the sky really is falling, why not pay attention to more pressing issues?
