So, I got a Galaxy S5 in a silent auction at a Make A Wish event past night. Unfortunately, there was no indication as to what provider it belonged to. Turns out, it is a Verizon phone and I have Sprint and have no desire to change carriers. My son and his wife are on Verizon, so I will most likely just give it to them. That being said, is there anyway to change it so it works with Sprint?
I pulled the trigger on a Samsung S5. I couldn't pass up the deal that Best Buy had. With 2-year activation, trade in any working smart phone and get $100. I had an old iPhone 3gs lying around and they accepted it. That's a 5 year old phone. Their trade in value for that phone was $5 so they had to add another $95 as part of the promotion. They give this to you in the form of a gift card which you can turn around and use right away. I have AT&T. If you have Verizon there is another deal that gives you $50 off and it stacks, so an S5 would only cost you $50.
Glad you got a good deal. I was ready to plonk down $250 for mine. I spent a week trying to find the best deals. Sams Club has it for $168.00, but no rebate. I was one day away from going with that. Then I found Verizon was offering $100.00 off any smart phone if ordered online, with an additional $50 MIR. I ordered it and they completely screwed up my order. After 2 days of waiting and 3 hours on the phone, they had to rebuild my order. The rep. applied the $100.00 promo, and a $50 instant rebate credit. I ended up paying $100 up front and then I submitted my $50 MIR. I hope they accept it and I will only end up paying $50.00. Not too bad for all the screwups.
Both the Lumia 1020 and 1520 are amazing phones. No camera on the market comes close to the 1020. With 8.1 both phones fly and have some really nifty features. Cortana is amazing on my 1520. I would say unless you're gaga over the S5 waiting is best, but you wont feel sorry with anything Nokia puts out either. Nokia builds phones that last, not phones of glass (heck, one Nokia saved a cops life by stopping a bullet).
Oneplus is having a contest in which you basically do a bunch of little things (post in their forums, like them on facebook, follow on Twitter, Google plus, etc.) to earn entries. Then, they randomly draw winners. What do you win? A chance to buy their phone. How many winners will there be? 150 How many entries are there? 350,000+ Color me underwhelmed.
lol @ sammy and htc coming out with prime versions of their phones. so the s5 (may come stateside) and m8 weren't really flagships? it seems that it was yearly, then biannually, now... quarterly releases? this htc m8 prime bleeds all sorts of sex though.
Unfortunately a Verizon phone won't work on Sprint. Bands aren't there to make it work optimally. Maybe you can trade it on Craigslist or sell it on swappa.com ? Get full retail value for it, and then purchase it at Sprint? Do you actually enjoy Sprint? Serious question, I'm not trying to be a condescending douchebag despite the fact that I hope Sprint as a company dies in a fiery fire with their dial up 3G and DSL 4g
Pretty cool interactive tool on the iPhone 6 compared to the iPhone 5S. Not sure how reliable some of the info is though. http://versus.com/en/apple-iphone-6-vs-apple-iphone-5s
The nokia screen still looks mostly in tact, the bullet didn't even cause a clear indent. The HTC clearly has an indent. All joking aside, it's nice that HTC is starting to make classier phones, not ones that feel like cheap plastic and glass.
What are ya'lls thoghts on the upcoming iphone6? Is it worth the wait over getting an htc one m8 right now? my phone has been dropped so many times it is barely functioning despite a brand spankin' new screen. i believe these 2 are the industry leaders and want to finally get on board with something nice.
Buying an HTC phone is like buying a non-Nokia phone on the Windows Phone side of things. They are great phones, but come on, how do you deviate from the Samsung universe in Android? Samsung/Galaxy has become as big as the android name itself. There are people who actually call android the galaxy phones because they don't know any better. As for anything apple, every year I hope they try and innovate, and every year they end up deviating. We don't want a plastic iPhone, we want a smarter one.
?? Samsung universe isn't something I know anything about or care to. It's a plast-icky phone and I don't like it. htc has all the apps a basic user like myself needs such as easy to use google maps.
That's one trend in the Samsung line of phones that I hate, that cheap plastic feel. I'm dropping some good cash here, can I get a device that doesn't feel like it's meant for a kid. If HTC ports/makes a WP8.1 clone of the M8 I might be pressed to consider leaving Nokia... Might be...
I like the plastic. Keeps the phone lighter. After dropping my previous phones multiple times, I know I'm going to slap a case on there anyways so I don't really care for the metal feel. Why do people want heavier phones??
I desperately want off Sprin after four years. Can't stand them. My area never got wimax. We are probably one of th last in line to get the new LTE, which will be sometime next year. What a gimmick.
I honestly prefer holding my Note 3 nekkid than with any "premium" feeling case. It's amazingly light and small once I remove it from my case and hold it in my hand. (Purchased a case a month ago due to it being on sale for $5-> Amazon Link) Doesn't really feel any less premium or plasticky to me; just a rectangular slab in my hand like any other phone would feel.
I don't use a case on my Nokia phones, it doesn't need one. I put a screen protector on, but Nokia phones are built to last. My 1520 is huge, but the weight doesn't feel bad, and my 1020 feels like any other phone in terms of weight.
