People can question Kevin Love's defense but what he brings is the ability to go 30/20 on a given night alongside Dwight. That skill and presence in the post is not abundant in the NBA. Plus, let's not forget Love has a great 3pt shot that spreads the defense making it easier for Dwight or Harden to attach the basket. There are so many great possibilities with Love, Harden and Howard. People on here just like to nitpick.
True. It's a must that this team buys into making defense it's number 1 priority. If not they won't win a championship. Don't have any idea why rockets thought they were going to get deep in the playoffs this year without playing any defense all that tells me is this franchise couldn't be as serious as they think they are about winning a championship.
Agree completely, but I don't see how in the world you could get Love without Parsons being in the deal. Either directly, or by flipping Parsons for a mid-lottery pick (like Lowry) and using that as the bait. I actually think there would be better balance, defensively, if your two weak defenders are more spread out -- i.e. one outside (Harden) and one inside (Love). Having two bad perimeter guys (Harden/Parsons) was deadly because there's only so much mitigating you can do, and it ends up being open lanes to the basket on both sides of the floor. Putting Harden next to a good defensive SF and Love next to Dwight would be easier to compensate, I think.
you said it right cat, as i did in my post above, love D is not a issue if you have D at the 1,3,5.. I see morey trying to wing a celtics (nets pick) for asik our 1st parsons jones only problem is the salary match
It's all thanks to the morons that act like idiots and puke their ignorant nonsense like anyone wants to hear them. I wish clutch would have just come out and said doc and cyberex were legit and if you hate spammed them then your account would be suspended. It just took a few idiots that ruined it for everyone. Anyone that goes out on a limb to give us info gets flamed but the few idiots that we have on here. It infuriates me...
It's really easy to block somebody... IMO cyberx could easily make use of this feature and then he'd never have to read those idiots again.
I think the 40 points per 100 possessions is for shots at the rim that he doesn't raise his hands. Since he has 9.1 shots at rim and 37.6% of them are without raised hands according to the article, that would translate to about 1.4 points/game for uncontested shots at the rim.
Sounds simple but you are referring to someone that is on a path to break rebounding records towards the end of his career & obviously cares deeply about getting boards. If would be dismissive IMO to assume that either Dwight or Love would be that open to significantly sacrificing their rebounding stats for the greater good. Winning cures all, and you'd expect sacrifice for the greater good. I get that. However, its definitely something I would ask people dont just write off. The Rockets might have to completely have to change their style of play if they dont at least one big running the floor on the rebound.
Remember that odd thread about how the Rockets had their hands up 50% less than the Spurs did against the Blazers... and how their is a direct, long term correlation between putting a hand up when a shot is taken and field goal percentage? Well Kevin Love is dead LAST in contested shots and he is a poor defender as a post player, which is a double whammy. Love often does not swith well and often cheats off his man. He is as bad, if not worse defensively than Harden....... having said that, I will take my chances with Love. He is the best rebounding 4 in the NBA, he is an elite scorer and shooter, he can handle the ball, runs the floor well and is very crafty defensively.... he, like Harden is still an overall major positive while on the floor.... He really opens up the offense for the Rockets, and allows them to have a defensive stud at the 1 and 3 that doesn't create.
That is true but still... It's just irritating that 12 year olds and the jealous ruin the thing that made clutch fans so awesome...
LOL...Very nicely put!....and accurate as well! The GARM is extremely volatile during the offseason! I thoroughly enjoyed DocRocket posts! Whether it was legit or not (I think it was), it was totally entertaining! I wish he would reconsider, and start posting once again! As far a Cyberx, I know he's been vouched for by Clutch, but honestly, I'm having a hard time buying into it! I'm not saying he should stop posting, because a lot of people get excited whenever he posts something, which generally means more participation and discussion in the GARM, that IS a good thing! I just think that EVERYTHING should be taken with a grain of salt! Whatever information we are receiving is generally 2nd/3rd hand at best, and information often times gets omitted/exaggerated/ or misinterpreted the further it goes down the line! Does KLove think Harden's defense sucks? Heck it's hard to find someone who doesn't!... ....... ....... .......
I know McGrady is not the best example. Folks call him this and that but one thing he sacrificed was the ability he took pride in and was good at. Scoring in bunches. He sacrificed part of his scoring. First two seasons. (Went from 28 to 29 points down to 25.8 and then 24 ppg and all the way down) although he was the offensive focus of the JVG 'build around your two stars and role players feed them ' offensive system.
I hope everyone understands 80%-90% of what gets discussed and thrown around in the NBA doesn't happen. Everything has to go perfectly for a deal to get executed.
And ultimately, does it really matter whether we know beforehand? I say this not because I don't value your insider info, but because I do. As such, you could have the best insider knowledge, and then something changes at the last minute, and they call you out, which is very silly. If anything, we should all take it for what it is- interesting to consider, and appreciate the messenger, but this ain't ancient Greece and the messenger doesn't get shot for bringing bad news and/or news that changes. The fact that a select few posters in here act like 10 year-old schoolgirls about rumours and such should not deter you from passing on your information. No matter where we are, where we work, where we visit, etc., there's always going to be the yahoos that ruin it for everyone. The only thing that matters is what we view on our TV sets on opening day- everything else is just flapdoodle.
Not saying that Love WOULDN'T sacrifice. I'm just saying that folks here having wet dreams about this pairing need to realize that MAJOR sacrifice is going to be needed from everyone in multiple areas- -from Dwight or Love on the boards -Love and Harden in isolation scoring -Love and Howard in post of isolation's -Love and Harden on DH'ing on defense (even though neither "should be" allowed to DH) -and lastly.... Style of play could be completely compromised Also... I'm not entirely sure that the team is that much better if Harden and Howard are the ones doing the major sacrificing quite honestly. I'm not saying they are not better off with Love, but I think people are significantly downplaying the fit and large amount of sacrifice that would need to be considered to achieve the "greater good". There is no argument on my side for or against. I think you make the move if you can, but I do have some pretty big questions to ask if people think you just throw these 3 stars on the court together and the talent alone will win titles.
Everyone doesn't understand that Do you know what the organizations priorities are? For example A.) Trade for Love B.) Clear cap for Melo C.) Clear cap for Lowry D.) Trade for Rondo etc. etc.
As a kid growing up, I always wondered how things went down. Growing up and seeing these things first hand and how things were happening was just absolutely amazing for me. I thought that a few of the posters here would really enjoy seeing many things that happen behind the scenes. It interested me then - and still sometimes is great to see. I just wanted to add a different dynamic.
