So will I still have DTV or do I have to get uverse? Should I start packing for an evacuation of katy?
Meh wake me when you choose channels a la carte and not packaged together with 150 channels of garbage. Whoever gets there first wins.
I couldn't agree more. The future of cable TV will be choose your channel, and it will be on demand. Forget waiting to record a show/movie when you happen to see it on. Everything should be readily available to the consumer whenever they want it.
You will probably remain asleep a long time. Question: Is this purely because you don't want to pay for the garbage channels? If so, how much do you think they add to an average monthly cable/satellite bill?
People shouldn't have to pay a premium price to have at least half of their channels produce garbage. For me, it isn't so much paying for the garbage channels, it is just the annoyance of having them there. Why should I be subjected to garbage TV when I pay a premium price for it? You don't think I (or anyone else paying a network over 50% cost) should be able to pick what I want to see, when I want too?
I believe they actually do have one. The wireless genie uses your home network to communicate between the main genie and the wireless genie.
Nobody forces you to watch the other channels. You already get to pick what you want to see and avoid the garbage. What is the annoyance of having them there if you never watch them? The price of the primary individual channels would likely increase (perhaps significantly) if a la carte was offered. Providers and networks aren't going to just give back chunks of revenue for nothing. On demand is a completely separate issue, but DVRs and the internet solve it for most people. For my family in particular, our DVR space increased to 400% of what it was after U-Verse switched out our main box. Space is no longer an issue.
Dish has to do something to keep up but would a merger with Sprint help? I would think they should try to merge with Verizon instead... Dish TV + Verizon FIOS TV / Internet + Verizon Wireless ... more products
