I doubt it. Santana is already on the 40-man roster. Tucker's potential callup next year probably depends on if the team keeps Dexter Fowler.
Another perplexing move by Porter. Pinch hitting for Villar in the 5th after a pitching change. If the reasoning was getting Gonzalez some more playing time in a seemingly "won" game (reasonable reason), why not have him pinch hit for Altuve who has played in every game and could use a few innings off?
I just started watching the Astros and paying more attention to them but it does seem like a lot of these guys are fairly young and could be the surrounding bits of a solid group of hitters in a few years. I can't imagine that Springer stays batting 2nd for forever but like I said I know nothing about it really. Altuve Correa Springer Singleton Dominguez would seem to be solid for the first 5 or no?
I wonder how much money they offered Matty D for a long-term contract. He doesn't look like he's going anywhere.
Nice game and series. Shoutout to Dominguez and Peacock today. Astros batting averages have moved from the "very embarrassingly sucky" realm to the "embarrassingly sucky"..... and rising!!!
We are three players away from being able to contend 1) a true ace 2) a legit superstar offensive player 3) a legit closer No idea how we get those guys
We wait. Appel, Folty, Rodon, Velasquez? Singleton, Correa? McCullers? Once we get our group of guys up from the minors, then I expect us to be players in free agency.
We have so many high quality pitching prospects. Why not take one of the guys with elite heat (IE Folty) and just dedicate that persons future to being an elite closer?
Because starters are more valuable than closers... and a guy with just elite heat does not automatically mean he should be an elite closer more-so than starting.
I know this is probably the wrong time to ask this, but do y'all think Matt Dominguez can develop into a franchise 3B? Poor mans Scott Rolen? Or is he just the mainstay until Rio Ruiz progresses and gets called? Similar to Villar/Correa.
Matt Dominguez is a Major League starting 3B. Right now Ruiz is way too far away & high risk to call Dominguez a place holder for him. The team has already offered him a long-term deal.
