This is the same franchise that saw the OKC Thunder/Harden situation happen right in front of our eyes where we ended up the beneficiaries of a team that had a player who left about as desirable a situation as you can have for a "Business Decision".

Parsons is a smart guy, and Morey is a smart guy. They are going to make the best "business decision" possible for both parties.

With the exception of Howard and Harden do whatever needs to be done to get Love over here.

I guess that's possible... I don't know, I just don't have the "adding him makes us instant contenders" feeling. At all. (Unless somebody can sell me on the fact that Love is a better defender than I think, which is entirely possible.)

I hope I'm wrong in case it happens, but I'm gonna hold out hope for Lowry/Millsap.

How is Lowrt/Millsap possible? Why does everyone think the Hawks want to deal Millsap?

I don't know if they do or not -- it's just what I want. :p But IIRC, there were talks about dealing Asik for Millsap earlier this year so they could move Horford to the 4... then Horford got hurt and that was that. Not sure if the asking price would be different now.

A lot of people are under the impression that the Hawks want to move Horford to his natural position of PF thus negating the need for Millsap. So a trade of Asik to the Hawks for Millsap is supposed to be mutually beneficial for both parties

Ms. Lady you honestly think ATL will part ways with Milsap after one year good services. ATL gave Milsap a nice hefty contract and IMO I don't see them trading him no time soon.

Only things I can sell you on Love is he is one of the best defensive rebounders in the game, he brings a scoring threat from both inside and outside. Yes our defense was lacking but we got murdered on the defensive boards as well. We don't lose a lot of games if we defensive rebounded better. LMA and Lopez killed us in the playoff's in that department.

I think they're willing to move milsap like we would be parsons. Which is to say it would take a whole lot for them to move him. That is unless horford makes it abundantly clear he wants to move to the pf spot.

I respectfully disagree, I don't think they traded for Milsap, give him that type of money so that they could trade him because Horford wanted to play PF. Just don't make any sense, IMO.

He's been open about not wanting to play center / being disappointed they didn't sign a true center last offseason. This is from last fall:

Anyway, weren't there talks between the teams regarding a possible Asik/Millsap swap earlier this season? Am I completely making that up?? LOL.

This isn't the time to get cute.

    Parsons/Asik/T Jones 2 firsts, 2 seconds.

Because Horford has been begging for years to go back to his natural position. Smoove and Horford didn't work. Milsap and Horford would probably be better, but Milsap wasn't signed long term. Horford and Asik though? Al finally gets a true center to play with so he can play to his full potential. Hawks then give Asik a 4 or 5 year contracts and they have Jeff Teague emerging as a awesome point guard. It makes too much sense for the Hawks. and all it would take would be Asik(who wants to get traded anyways), Donuts(who wants to get traded anyways maybe?) and a our 25th(?) pick.

Milsap will have a salary hit of 9 million, which is like 2 million less than Asik and DMo combined which doesn't even include the rookie we might sign. Dump Lin and then release Casspi and Hamilton and we will have that much more to go and sign a point guard! Lowry maybe? Bledsoe would be unlikely but still worth a shot? Patty Mill could be an upgrade over Lin. The possibilities are almost endless!

To me, he's a better 4 than Horford is, especially in this era that values stretch 4s. Either keep them both or trade Horford, who I think is a bit overrated anyway.

But I agree, I don't think they are looking to trade him but who knows.

TJ is a good defensive rebounder, IMO. His biggest flaw -- in my eyes -- is that outside of rebounds and blocks, he is a negative on the defensive end against bigger PFs. I would genuinely love for someone to tell me that Love will fare a lot better defensively against the Ibakas/LMAs/Blakes. I don't watch Minnesota like that, so I really don't know.

Something that would be ironic (at least to me) should a deal with the T-Puppies go down with the Rocks. They might want to send us Chase Budinger. He has 2 years left at $5 million per year, last year player option (which he won't exercise - I'd bet on it), and has been a disaster for Minnie. They acquired him to be their starting 3, if memory serves, and he's spent huge amounts of time injured with (drum roll) a torn miniscus, twice! Surgery removed part of it after the second time Chase was hurt. He's been coming off the bench behind Brewer, when he's played, and has actually spent more time at the 2, and I don't think that was the departed Adelman's plan when he got him. In other words, I'd call him a bad contract at this point. His %'s have been down when he has played. Heck, Chandler looks like an absolute star 3 next to Air Bud. The Timberwolves could really use an upgrade at that position, and Parsons would be a huge upgrade for them.

Just thought I'd toss that tidbit in. ;-)-

(and I don't want to lose Chandler, I just think he's an obvious piece to move to Minnie if we do a Love deal, as I think this post helps explain)

This argument i understand, if some of you would rather see us keep Parsons and go after Melo or Lowry in FA, i get that.

Thinking were going to be able to keep Parsons out of a trade for Love is just dumb. Nobody knows what the hell we'd trade for Love, but acting like theres just NO chance we trade our best asset is a dumb position to take when everyone knows he'l most likely be the main piece in any deal.

I think a team with Parson is a better transition team and better transition D and half court D. With Love you have a way better half court offense and when I say way better I mean A LOT BETTER. Again, Offense isn't the problem with this team and does Love prevent the Blazer offense from raping the Rockets or do people think the offense becomes so much better that it doesn't matter? It just seams that all the teams in the conference finals are great defenders.

It will be interesting to see how Ibaka lose affects the Thunder. Maybe, that will show people how important defense is.

First off, no team (other than the one holding Parsons's Bird rights when he hits free agency) can offer Chandler a fifth year on his next deal.

But, yes, if Parsons signs an offer sheet with another team as a RFA, then the amount of his starting salary under that offer sheet will become his new cap hold unless his former team elects not to match, in which case he walks to his new team and comes off the books.

We all know the June 30 date regarding WAIVING Parsons (where he will have his 2014-15 salary fully guaranteed so long as he is not waived by June 30), I have yet to see a definitive deadline date for the TEAM OPTION. FWIW, there is a chance that the deadline to pick up or decline the team option on Chandler's contract might be June 25 (the day BEFORE the NBA Draft), so a Kevin Love deal including Parsons (in which Minnesota might want to make Parsons a RFA to lock him in for five more years instead of have him walk after only one year) might not work from a timing standpoint.

This is my question, worded more succinctly. ;)
