Parsons will almost certainly have to be included in order to have a package that comes close to competing with what Boston and even (Yes) the Lakers(the pick they get next month will be the ultimate prize) have to offer Minnesota. That's just the shear fact of the matter. If Morey is keeping Parsons off the table (and its known that his name was at least mentioned for Rondo) than he might as well just not even waste anyone's time by making an offer. Maybe he doesn't end up having to trade him, but he's almost certainly going to have to be discussed & made available. Parsons was very instrumental in bringing Dwight to Houston, but more than anything, Parsons is going to be concerned with putting himself in a position to be both an all-star caliber player and to get paid handsomely ASAP... and there is no reason why he shouldn't be. Enter Minnesota (if they really do like him enough to think he's ready for a staring role). Hell.. Parsons might even push for the deal to happen if his agent finds out that Minnesota thinks the world of him, wants to give him more opportunity, and wants to give him a huge new contract. Look at what he's got in Minnesota.... he's probably going to be the #1 option offensively. He's got shooting around him, he's got an excellent big man, a very large metroplex that will adore him, he's got players that can run the floor, and he's got some solid veterans as well. There aren't too many situations in the NBA that are tailor made for Parsons to use as leverage against Houston in the future anyways. If he is still in Houston, that's going to happen either way. Why would Parson's really be THAT opposed to going to the Wolves if he was planning on seeking employment from a team like that in the near future anyways? Its a business, and Parsons as much as he and I want him to be a Rockets for life, knows that as well as anyone. He's a smart guy.
Even with Parsons being the main recruiter for Howard, he would still be gone if we were to trade for Love. The nba is a business, Parsons and Howard understand this. If Love was available and Parsons was required in the trade, neither Parsons nor Howard would be confused or upset, Kevin Love is a superstar and trade happen. We have no where near enough assets for Love, you want to say Parsons is untouchable? Then we'd have the absolute most laughable offer for Love compared to what the rest of the teams are willing to give. Lin, Asik, Jones, Motiejunas, canaan, beverley, draft picks. The only value in that package is an expiring Asik, who'd have no use next to pek on there team, Jones and draft picks. Beverley, Lin, Canaan have no use for them but flippable pieces for some 2nd round draft picks, Motiejunas is a prospect who hasn't cracked a rotation yet. Parsons and draft picks are the only real value assets we have, everyone else are little sweeteners.
There should be no doubt that Ainge was trying to get Parsons. But that doesn't mean it's going to happen. It won't.
I remember there being multiple reports, and the sticking point came down to Parsons being a must have for Boston that Morey ultimately not being able to part with. Cyberx's credibility.... well I can't speak on that. I dont know the guy personally so there is no way to tell, but what he noted seems to add up to everything else we heard, but at the end of the day the only thing he would have been wrong with was how likely Morey would have been to trade Parsons for Rondo. Not that his name wasn't brought up cause it obviously was as it should be. However for Rondo its arguable how available he should be. For Kevin Love.... come on. Morey's going to discuss a deal for Kevin Love any way he can. Whether he actually trades him or not is a completely different argument. I think its all going to come down to some horse trading at the end of the day. If Morey can sub in picks or instead take back another contract or something to sub Parsons out of the deal... why wouldn't he. Its horse trading at the end of the day, but you need to be willing to at least bring Parsons to the table to compete with the other high rollers.
We won't be seeing a healthy Rose again, The only reason why he could possible pick the Bulls is because of Coach Tib's. Dude knows ho to get the best out of his players. The rest of your reason are spot on.
What kind of defense do you see teams playing on him? Are they going to go all the way out beyond the 3 point line? if so, good.
Morey will do everything in his power to keep Parsons a Rocket. If Minny comes back and tells him that the inclusion of Parsons gets the deal done, you have to expect him to pull the trigger. However, it won't be an easy choice, especially with the potential forward FAs available this offseason. Which is better: Bev/Harden/Parsons/Melo/Howard or Bev/Harden/Hamilton/Love/Howard? Defense is basically a wash, offense and rebounding will be the big differences.
I don't think they will get Love nor do I care but for the sake of arguing, Love will choose the team and Timberwolves will approve it. The point of the Trade is that Love agrees to sign an extension and he can't be forced to do that. Yes, it possible for a team to agree to a trade without an extension but that would not be smart.
come on man dudes is going to take $10-12 mill of cap if we keep him eventually, we could’ve had a MLE guy out there in that 0.9 secs that wouldve knew basic basketball out of bounds positional D. which was to get in between lillard and the ball and we would’ve been playing the spurs round 2. I don’t get the love... if he was going to be cheap for 3 more years than I would agree. You always say we are not trading parsons, so maybe you feel if parsons had to packaged with KD or LBJ we wouldn’t trade him lol
Okay, I can see your convinced that Parsons is staying, either way it's out of our hands. "In Morey we Trust". BTW...I would trade Harden! I know how great of a player he is offensively, but he and Lin aggravate the heck out me! I find myself being upset at them half the time their out on the floor! Lin for making the SAME mistakes over and over, and Harden for showing the SAME lack of effort on defense over and over! If we could get Love/Lowery/and keep Parsons at the expense of Harden/Lin/Asik this offseason I would be perfectly content! ....... ....... .......
Even without Rose, the Bulls were the 4th seed in the East this season. And last year without him(and in fairness with Deng), they got to the 2nd round. The Bulls are still a formidable team if they add Love and can't get Rose healthy. They wouldn't be title contenders though(at least not yet).
Is it not a Business? Therefore Parsons recruiting Howard will not hold merit if Minny want Parsons in the deal for Love. You have to understand the business side of it as well Holic.
He could pull a CP3 and agree to opt in for that extra year, I'm not sure he will give an agreement to anyone that he'll re-sign, he can make way more as a free agent even if he re-signs. Dwight's agent (not Dwight) supposedly told the Lakers that he'd re-sign and we saw how that ended.
I guess I see two of our biggest weaknesses as defense (obviously) and a weak bench, outside of Lin/Asik. Seems adding Love would make both of these problems worse. In the long run -- to me -- it just seems like adding another all-star for the sake of having another one.
Its unbelievable that Chandler Parsons will act as a smart business person and use another organization in the future to give him both a larger role offensively, and a large contract? It would be pretty stupid for Parsons and his agent to not be planning on at least leveraging the possibility in the future when he goes into free agency sooner or later. As much as Parsons, the Rockets org, and the fans (myself included) want to see him retire as a Rocket, we all should be smart enough to realize that at the end of the day he's going to make the best decision for his career and his future financially for himself and his family. Does Parsons want to go to Minnesota.... of course not, but if he's going to look at other organizations in the future anyways, he'll be hard pressed to find a better situation for him to get everything else he is looking for outside of Houston than with Minnesota.... IF they really do want to give him a staring role & a large contract. What I'm saying isn't what people here WANT to hear, but its the truth at the end of the day.
This could work out for the best if Chicago lands Love and would be out of the Melo sweepstakes. Then there would be NO better choice than the Rockets.
This, Take old school to school Dobro LOL. This gives Parsons the opportunity to be the man. Minny might build the team around him.
